and no, its not just attention, its rated by three categories (popularity, rating, attention) by 11 different sources and averaged into the ranking that you see, some sources dont include ratings for certain animes for one reason or another (may not be summer anime or what not)

i wouldn't say it was "awesome"...... the combo "goddamn" is also overrated.... yes, it was unique, very artistic indeed... but no. not "awesome". "prominent" works better
i'd say that the project was received better as the eye-catcher(s) were magnificent letdowns. guess #1 wasn't a surprise.
what's compelling to me was how hinagiku lost to endless8.

This season of hayate was really bad. I am a Hinagiku fan myself and liked her arc, but they made a big mistake by turning the whole season into a soap opera.
Just think that it got into the top10 exclusively because of all the Hinagiku goodness!

Was it really that good? I watched the first episode and thought it was complete crap. Should I revisit?
Tbh, despite being a big fan of Lucky Star and K-ON!, i have to say GA blasted both those shows in terms of gag comedy (and educational entertainment).
As a great man once said: "GA is the best fucking anime the summer of 2009."
Bakemonogatari was one of the biggest dissapointments of the year for me.

Haruhi was still good even with Endless Eight. I'm just thankful for more Haruhi, unlike everybody else on the internet.

I side with anon 16:22 entirely. Haruhi had the horrid E8, 2 random so-so episodes and a last decent arc of the sigh, with that amazing scene. As a season it was a complete let-down, especially because everyone wanted to see the Disappearance.
You all fail. Anyone who doesn't pickup the art of Bakemonogatari needs to lern2anime watch. EASILY the best show i've seen in a long time. Anyone who just doesn't get Bakemonogatari and doesn't like it because of it needs to slap their penis on a beehive, because thats the same amount of pain your causing to the anime industry by promoting crap like Haruhi in any shape or form. And ontop of that shit, anyone insulting FMA Brotherhood needs a slap in the face, most of the hate comes from season 1 watchers who stopped around ep 10, i think around ep 19-20 people understand where the quality of the manga picks up. If you don't you fail period.

I gave up on this anime after ep 3 or 4, it was nothing but sitting around and yapping, it got pretty boring so I stoped bothering with it. and Saki just sounded silly from what I read about it.
Someone has to learn to enjoy witty dialogue.
Spice & Wolf should've been much higher!
Haruhi would've had a better showing if Kadakawa hadn't fucked his fanbase.

2ch clearly has poor tastes. I wouldn't rank the majority of the top 10 anywhere near as high as they were, and haruhi doesn't even belong on the list since it aired in 2006 and there is no season 2. Cross game and needless especially belong closer to the top.

Indeed, poor anon 14:45 is commenting on others' tastes when he hails at stuff like needless and doesn't understand that 14 new episodes of haruhi and the "SECOND SEASON" announcements on major japanese anime megazines clearly mean that IT IS a second season.

I am personally surprised because those top lists generally don't show the actually good serie.
Stuff like #2 saki is what doesn't surprise me.
