Of course, she does. She can't even go to onsen anymore. I was thinking about a tatto yrs ago, but for the love of onsen/sentou, I gave up the idea. I kinda feel sorry for her. She's carrying this kind of art with her all the time, yet she'll be denied to relax at an onsen for the rest of her life.
Yes, because otherwise the "tattoos" would wash off. Well, srsly, is there any actual evidence that these aren't body painting? Irezumi as I understand it is incredibly painful because it's done with small chisels instead of needles, and some of the colors are quite toxic so the tattoo has do be done gradually.
today's inks are not toxic. however a tattoo is like an open wound and must be taken care of like an open wound. If the artist does too much at one time the one being tattooed can go into shock as if they had been skinned and it hurts. That is why they do it in stages.
