Valkyria Chronicles Sequel for PS3 “Possible”

Fans were disappointed to learn that the acclaimed RPG Valkyria Chronicles‘ “sequel” was to be released on the PSP and not on the PS3, but it seems Sega is now bringing them some hope of a PS3 release, albeit with a condition…
Sony responded to a fan’s complaint on their official European blog about the choice of PSP as the platform for Valkyria Chronicles II thus:
“So far it seems like most of the fans are really just happy to see the series continue and, if VCII sells well, it means a much greater chance that the series can pick up again back on a larger console, like the PS3.”
Apparently, if fans of the game ever want to play on the PS3, they will just need to buy up the inferior PSP version in droves, due for release in late 2009 in Japan and in 2010 elsewhere.

Sony needs to make the PS3 able to play PSP games. It'd mostly help them sell more PSP games to people like me that have zero interest in portable game system but have seen a few PSP games that looked good.

1) most jrpgs released on the 360 did horrible. the 360 didn't help at all. note Namco admitting they weren't even expecting to make they money from the 360.
and this is a publisher that stuck 2 "exclusives" on the console.
2) VC was a srpg, a genre that has next to no fanbase in the West.

how many western made srpgs can you even think of? simply put, in the West, its a genre that doesn't have much more than a niche cult fanbase that's a niche within the niche that is jrpg fandom. and you think that putting it on the console whose only strength is the western base will do much?
when Sega ditches the current design and makes VC3 play like a WWII FPS/RPG, then the 360 may actually matter amid all the proclamations of how it changed the way we play rpgs. but VC as it is now, which is pretty much an update of Sakura Taisen's system with a pseudo 3rd person shooter element, the 360 isn't going to be worth a thing.
Future Tactics didn't sell too well cuz it was quirky-british, ill-advertised, and had little replay value. But I could go for a refined version of its combat system with a VC chassis.

I was surprised when they said it was originally a 360 exclusive game. They should have went Multiplat in my opinion so it would at least sell a few more.

I have no interest in buying the sequel however because the psp can go fuck itself
you obviously have not even taken the slightly effort to look at the game screen and description. Well if you did, it's actually quite nice. They put in some new concepts with the game regarding way more vehicles and infantry types as well as the map being loaded in smaller sections so the quality will not go to say DS quality.

Considering the original game doesn't have PS3 graphics, nor does it ever really use a lot of memory (everything is turn based so no great CPU or ram usage) it makes sense to make a PSP title. Who knows, it might turn out great. How about seeing the actual game before you start whining?
They should get microsoft to pay them to make another exclusive for the xbox 360 >_>

I'm hoping this game will come out on PS3 and 360, and if possible, a Wii version. Just so everyone can enjoy a great game, and Sega can make moniez.
That's the only reason I want PS3. I know it has other great games, but Valkyria Chronicles is the one I want. If the sequel is for PSP, PS3 I will buy a PS3.

I don`t know what you are fawning for, the PSP is infinitely superior to the PS3.Home consoles are such a disappointment this generation... the portables is where it`s at.

PSP has amongst the worst fucking software of any consoles, its mostly spin off crap and ps1 ports. Very little original software on the psp worth giving a fuck for. At least the ds has original games.
It's true that the basic graphics and gameplay that a portable has, which is the equivalent of a PS1 to PS2 level machine, is enough to enjoy a game. I mean, all HD does is amp the pixels.
The problem with portables is that there are few original non-spin-off games made for it, especially the PSP.
The whole reason why there are fanboy brawls (PS3 vs 360, HD vs Wii, home console vs portable) is because there are too many choices this generation, each one being very expensive. Back then, it's either Nintendo or Sega. If you wanted portable there was only Nintendo. The introduction of the Playstation provided for a nice golden age where there were new IPs (tied to 3D development) as well as reductions in prices of hardware where a current-gen console can be had for $100-$200. Now that sort of dough can only get you a portable which (surprise surprise) plays a port of a yesteryear game.
The worst part of it all was it used to be that the PC was the rock upon which all other developments were based on. Now you pick up a copy of an Electronics arts game you see that they don't care about PC gamers anymore, with tons of bugs and crap controls which were based off consoles. Without PC as the standard fall-back platform, what then is the standard platform for the majority of games? It is no longer PC is king, or PS2 is king. You really have to research and predict where your favorite genres will go, and what all these 'exclusives' shit that companies do only serve to alienate consumers.

The game looks actually interesting if you put in the effort to read the article and look at the screen shots, PSP can manage most of the PS2 graphics, I mean we've seems games like Metal Gear portable ops and the graphic are fine.
Anyway..I'll definitely be picking this one up too...
