Tales of Vesperia Beta Status Confirmed

tov-xbox-beta-version.jpg

perfect-tov-ps3.jpg

When it was first released, the Xbox 360 version of Tales of Vesperia attracted comments such as “Aren’t these spaces a bit strange? Shouldn’t there be more characters?” and even “I feel the loli content seems a bit lacking,” and it seems the above image confirms these suspicions fully.

The revelations about the development process all appear to be true, though the question remains as to whether this was planned deliberately or content really was dropped and re-added later as is insisted…

as of now, who cares if xbox360 users got screwed. if you're really going to blame someone, blame microsoft already, obviously their greed is the cause. had they allowed sony a piece of the pie, the development team would have more "funds" to deal with. but since microsoft wanted to give more money for exclusive contracts-cutting sony off. xbox360 got screwed.

    WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CARESSSSSSSSSSSSS :)

Amusingly, I'd think the 360 has no choice but to continue along this trend of rushing for exclusives at the risk of being betrayed.

Aside from a solid online community, which can be seen growing in the PS3 quite nicely (with the added benefit of not having Halo fanboys but the deficit of PS3 fanboys) (the Wii still has one annoying hick that can't be overcome.)

If every game that were bought off as exclusives made their way into being multiplatforms, the odds would be that people would've moved over to the PS3. For a more silent, less defective, more reliable console.

I say that with a lot of confidence, because I have met a few guys who were at their 3rd 360. My personal guess would be, upon the 2nd time you encounter that RRoD, you might feel like switching to a console that won't break down so easily.

That's so true. If MadWorld, No More Heroes, Muramasa: Demon Blade were to get released unto the PS3 and 360. I'll have buy'em for the PS3 since im use to that controller setup the most

i'm going to throw out a crazy idea that MS and Sony should be totally happy with this set-up. why not?

for Microsoft, the 360 gets the initial exclusives it wants from japanese devs along with all the cock waving bragging rights that comes with it. it makes MS's defense force happy because they get a year to crow from the rooftops that they've become the clear definitive winner. They don't sell a lot of consoles (reality check for the Vesperia 360 sell-out, that selling out of Japan's 360 supply tallied up to 40-50k units total across Japan. the Wii and PS3 can triple or quadruple that and not claim a sell-out) but they sell some and they get the games.

for japanese developers who it really seems are only really just now understanding the costs and the nature of developing on an international scale, and are also for the first time having to deal with the technical level advantage that western devs have long enjoyed: they get a nice "development grant" to help cover the costs of whats probably the biggest technical jump many of not any of them have ever faced. it gives them the freedom to experiment with a level of technology they haven't in the past had to work with and not risk bankrupting themselves to do it.

for Sony, a year later they get the ps3 version of the games, usually upgraded at the very least in terms of technical issues the 360 version suffered, sometimes complete with new content. Sony's defense force members get to crow from their rooftops that they finally got the game and that they got the real version, not the stupid beta that 360 owners got. and for Sony, the new upgraded versions can still move decent numbers of consoles and software.

and once again back to the devs, they get to sell more copies of the game to a whole new audience, which Vesperia has shown to still be a very sizable audience after the 360 crowd.

Namco's little stunt with Tales of Vesperia may have seems a bit underhanded but the only people who've been hurt by it are the forum raging defense forces that demand "there can be only one!" and insist one side has to win and one side has to lose.
For Microsoft, Sony, and Namco, if you look at the whole situation objectively, its been win-win for everyone involved.

I always buy the PS3 version too, except it's a shooter. RE5 felt way more right on the 360, since the controller is most similar to the GC's (RE4)

    1. Japanese are loyal and supports the gaming industry by buying originals, while outside of japan people like us tend to "cough" the games off the source of our choice.

    2. Microsoft is selling more consoles instead of games which worries game devs hence a lot of games such as eternal sonata, tales of vespira and the ever so famous of star ocean 4 is getting a remade and released on PS3 (curse BR disc..... come on china hack the black box already).

    3. Halo suck balls and Microsoft knows they can only feed that to the amerifags.

    4. The only people in japan buys xbox is those geeks otakus who enjoy loli idol games.... much like the rest of the world.

    5. PS3 4tw!!!!!!

Yes, 360 is defiantly better with the 54% RRoD rate! I'd recommend this fine console to anybody! After all, who wants a more powerful machine that's actually well made?

While he's right that Artefact may be a PS3-fag, 360 isn't always better. 54% failure rate, dwindling presence in Japan, losing exclusive that were bought under-the-table... 360 has just as much flaws as PS3 does. Too bad he's too much of a fanboy to admit that... so very, very bitter indeed.

Artefact is neither, he posts articles that are biased in one way or another. The intended result is getting the fanboys warring in the comments.

The only reason he seems like a PS3-fag is because Xbox 360 keeps failing over and over again.

My irritating with the PS3 mainly comes with the stigma that came along with its release. I don't mind the console as a whole.

...I think Artefact mentioned he had both in a post once... and really, both consoles are pretty good, just that 360's golden age is ending, and the Ps3 is making a comeback with the slim, and less glitches, thus effectively starting their golden age....

The 360 is vastly superior with it's 20% RRod rate.(older models) Not quite 54% but still shameful.

You don't have to be a PS3 fag to support PS3. I have all the consoles but hate the 360 and Wii, mostly because they've been collecting dust for over a year. At least I've been able to get some playtime out of the Wii recently (Muramasa)

where is the fraud. Even if they released the game with less content for the 360 no fraud exists simply because they did't promise a game with more content than arrived. 360 owners got what was promised a timed exclusive of a Tales game. in the year + since its 360 release there has been further development and now the ps3 owners will reap the benifit of that year. whether this was planned all along is irrelevant, simply because the game arrived as expected as can be seen from all the crowing (all the we got it and you didn't 5th grader crap) done by 360 owners a year ago. They got what they wanted and were happy with it. The only reason they are mad now is because ps3 owners are getting an improved version. If the shoe was on the other foot I doubt they would cry foul.

+1... Seriously, Ps3 may have more content, but 360 got the game first, also, it takes for ever to translate into English, so we're gonna have to wait another year or so to buy the translated version...
