“Perfect” Tales of Vesperia Sells 150,000 on First Day

The PS3 edition of loli pirate RPG Tales of Vesperia has sold the most units of any Tales game ever on its opening day, selling more than twice as many copies as the popular Xbox beta version, with an estimated total of 147,000.
The previous Tales games have generally done well, but never as well as this, especially considering the title was already released once.
The opening day sales of previous titles:
Tales of Innocence (DS – 76,000)
Tales of Symphonia (Wii – 120,000)
Tales of Vesperia β (Xbox 360 – 71,000)
Tales of Hearts (DS – 121,000)
Radiant Mythology 2 (PSP – 135,000)
Tales of VS (PSP – 89,000)
Tales of Vesperia (PS3 – 147,000)
The beta version has sold just shy of 200,000 units to date (in Japan), so it seems possible “Perfect ToV” may be able to double even that, which could make an impressive total of 600,000 when added to the not unimpressive Xbox figures…

You know what? I support Namco's decision to make an updated version, and would be much more excited if Sankaku Complex stopped being such jerks to 360 owners. I will definitely buy the new version if it is localized, even though I already have the 360 version, but honestly, "beta version"? That's just mean. You feel like such elitists; assuming that the 360 is bad just because it was made by an American company. I just want to enjoy my games, but all the fanboys make it miserable to even think about! Shut the hell up, and play the game for what it is, and by that alone.

That "beta" thing is getting old and it won't get any less false the more you repeat it.
TOV Xbox is the exact opposite of a beta:
BETA = FEATURE COMPLETE, but buggy
TOV Xbox = Feature incomplete, but not buggy
nice try. Betas are not always complete. The only real definition of a beta is its an early version they're putting out there for product testing. in fact there are usually several stages of betas with several stages of completeness.
this ranges from
-bug testing
-user feedback
-quality assessment/checking
that having been said, no ToV XBox really wouldn't qualify as a beta as one would assume Tales Studio was past the product testing phase.
but its really not that old and is quite funny to see the XBox fanboys get riled up about it (as it is to see PS3 fanboys get riled up about not getting stuff)
All I know is that upgraded or not, I now finally get to play the game and that's all I'm bothered about.
Even if the PS3 version were "inferior" to 360 version, it'll still do better on the PS3 in terms of sales because there are far more PS3 owners in Japan than 360 owners.

Vesperia had a very shitty story though. Not as shitty as ToS:KoR though.
The addons won't make up for it.
Indeed its storyline was not strong however when I compare it to other next gen JRPG's out there it was actually fine **coughSO4cough**

Even though I've already finished the game on the XboX, and my interest in loli pirates and extra costumes could be accurately described as nonexistent, I am pleased by this. Whenever a series I enjoy does well, it's good news to me.

I guess Artefact must be pretty depressed that this sold so badly and failed; after all, it's sold a mere fraction of Dragon Quest IX's 2 million pre-order sales and he considered that to be a total failure.

i don't know what's the surprise...it a might've been a "timed" exclusive game but that doesn't mean it has to be equal in any sense...M$ paid Namco to get it first on the 360(ok all you xbots can say that M$ was just looking out for you fans)but we all knew it was gonna be re-released on the ps3 sooner or later.As such sony took it onto themselves to give us(ps3 owners) a better version and why not? they had a another year to work on it and the ps3 is a true next gen console(IMO) unlike the 360(i know some of you disagree)so why not advantage of the improvements that can be done.Ports are fine i am happy that players of another console can enjoy the same game as me except when it compromise the quality of the game based on the limitations of said console.That being said i will be picking up a copy of the ps3 version.

maybe you should laugh that the "good console" can only grab attention by buying it because apparently none of the japanese devs really expect to do well on it, but they figure they can milk MS's dev grant and then put a complete version on the PS3.
of course there's also the fact that your claim is worth its own laugh. since we're talking about japan here, the PS3 has a larger install base (by multiples) than the 360 there. so maybe the real joke is that MS tries to buy attention in Japan and still gets outsold.
