Overt, incest is legal in almost all of Europe. The few countries it isn't are being pressured by the EU to "modernize" their laws so that incest is legal.

Incest only has a negligible risk of deformity in the first generation. Women over 40 have a higher risk of deformity than a first generation incest couple.

It just becomes a problem in the long run, say on the 3rd or 4th generation.

I know incest is a no no since that defect risk is very increased.
And only heard news with defective children.

*sighs*...some people do believe incest involves having kids as well. Look, incest is just a person having sexual relations with a family member. It's not really that much of a crime (that is if both family members consent to it of course lol). I think there are way more serious cases out there.

Having a kid though is another issue. Incest on it's own is not that big a deal. However if the couple decide to have children, that's when it becomes a slight problem. As having a child born from incest has a higher chance of having disabilities. Not 100% chance, but higher chance. But even if said child had no problems, I'm pretty sure if majority of people knew the child's parents were siblings or what not. The child might suffer social problems. Because we all know how much humans can be an asshole towards those less fortunate/different.

You really don't think the outlawing of sexual relations of any form between family members was a moralistic extension of the whole "it would suck if everyone did this and caused a proliferation of folks with three fingers, acromegaly and mandibular prognathism" thing? Considering how, even today, sexual relations with the specific intention of *not* having children still can result in accidental pregnancy (uncontrollably quick shooter, doesn't know how to wear a condom like a true inbred tardbucket, "I want to feel you for real"), I think the blanket approach to the whole relationships-between-family-members is reasonable.

Schrobby, Lot was made drunk by his daughters and was thus completely unaware of his surroundings when they were him. In other words, Lot was date raped by his own daughters. If the Bible didn't consider such cases of incest to be wrong, they wouldn't have had to do that. All they could've done is tell Lot directly that, because there are no men around, the only way they can continue their lineage is by bearing children with their father. And he probably would've agreed since it's pretty sound logic, and royal families have been doing things like that for a long time for a similar purpose (resulting in various physical conditions one would find "freaky"). If you want clear-cut rules on what the Bible considers to be incest, read Leviticus 18:6-18.
