The pool of Japanese Xbox 360 “exclusives” appears to be shrinking fast with the news that ero-RPG Star Ocean 4 is to come to the PS3, its exclusive status having apparently worn off in much the same way as with the imminent Tales of Vesperia.
The news comes by way of a leaked release schedule indicating that “Star Ocean 4 The Last Hope International” will be due in Japan on February 2010.
Confirmed features so far are voices switchable between English and Japanese, and what look to be minor cosmetic changes and gameplay tweaks.
The language options presumably mean a dual language English version will also be released, and the game has indeed appeared briefly in the release schedules of some US retailers.
With Square Enix having betrayed the Xbox 360 so flagrantly, we can but wonder what awaits in a PS3 version, and whether the Xbox 360 release will turn out to be but a beta version as in the now notorious Tales of Vesperia fiasco.
Assuming of course that it escapes the wrath of a Sony check...
This is good news, I thought Star ocean 3 was great, one of the best RPGs on the ps2, I will be getting this as soon as it comes on sale in the UK
Microsoft needs to pull out of Japan, seriously, its costing them more money trying to sell games in Otaku country than they make there. Everything it has to offer just doesn’t appeal to the Japanese (its foreign and revolves around playing together for example).
Im sooo glad I didnt buy this game! I knew they would probably release a superior version on the ps3 so Im glad I didnt waste my money on a lower quality version and I certainly dont intend to get a ps3 just to play it. Im more than happy to pass bcoz all Square Enix games tend to be terrible and this does not look like an exception.
LOL When was this ever a 360 exclusive? It was never such. It was only said to have been developed for 360 but was never stamped with the Only On Xbox logo. So I really don’t get where the 360 has been ‘betrayed’ here. I think we all knew it would eventually go to PS3. The game itself is mediocre at best. Xbox owners have the fantastic MagnaCarta 2 anyway.
