Darwin Film “Too Much” for Americans

the-descent-of-man.gif

A recent movie celebrating the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s birth has ignited a storm of criticism in the superstitiously minded US, with creationists denouncing the movie, reversing the balance of opinion seen in other developed countries.

So much so that the producer has opted not to even bother releasing it in the USA, saying Americans are “not ready” for such a work.

Though American attitudes to evolution are nothing new, the all but universally scathing reaction of Japanese online is interesting to behold, particularly considering the Japan is hardly free from superstition itself.

2ch holds forth on the subject unsparingly:

“Americans are just too stupid.”

“There are no gods. Gods and demons are just the products of the fevered imaginations of men.”

“That the US, so full of idiots, can maintain a scientific and technological lead is the real mystery here…”

“America is really a cult nation.”

“They don’t really believe this, do they?”

“Those intelligent design guys. They got teaching evolution banned in some schools y’know.”

“Nice joke!”

“God didn’t make man, man made god.”

“It’s the 21st century and these idiot Christians still believe these fairytales. How long will they keep believing this rubbish…”

“Truly the land of the free.”

“What is the US, some kind of huge kindergarten?”

“I use to believe in evolution but lately I feel it might be plausible that aliens made man.”

“So who made the aliens?”

“>Only 39% believe in evolution.

What kind of idiots are they… God made it all – ridiculous.”

“But some Japanese do believe in an afterlife.”

“Americans love massacres so it’s fitting they are all Christians.”

“There are idiots in Japan who believe in spirits too, so we’re really in no position to laugh at these fools.”

“And these idiots make a fuss over a few whales…”

“This is just the protestant right making a fuss. Most Americans don’t even know what evolution is.”

“This is a matter of faith. God is necessary to maintain American society. Pure reason can’t maintain a human society. Religion is necessary to reassure people in the face of all the crime and death.”

“Saying ‘Are there really people in the US who actually believe God made man?’ to an American might be a bit dangerous…”

religion-vs-evolution.jpg

“What can we say about America…”

“You should put up one for blood type fortune telling too…”

The same sort of thing goes on over the thousands upon thousands of posts spawned in response to this news.

However whether u believe in God or don't u need to accept the fact that just the idea of god has acted as a great support for those in times of trial, just look at religious numbers during ww1 and ww2.

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
    Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
    Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
    Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
    Then why call him God.

All hail Epicurus, bringer of undeniable proof that there is no God.

I think the general truth is that God is flawed. I hate when people quote Epicurus, this little quotation is the same as some kid asking "If God exists why do bad things happen?" The only way to prevent evil is to control every action of every human, taking away your free will. Besides, humans are too stupid and flawed to handle any godly intervention anyway. We fail and God was the first to notice so he said "Screw it, we'll just wait for the apocalypse and pick up whoever's praying at the time."

As logical as that arguement is, it is no proof. There is NO proof that can be brought against God, because he is omnipotent. Omnipotentency is one of the most illogical things out there, it's beyond logical comprehension. God can make a boulder so big that not even he could lift it, and he could lift it.

Using logic on such an illogical institution is like trying to make water wetter, it's impossible and stupid.

That's why Christianity was designed the way it was, it's impossible to *really* refute it.

You realize that Judas is a hero right? Without Judas, Jesus never would have been crucified and no one's sins would be forgiven. When Christians demonize Judas, it shows their ignorance. The story of Judas also shows how if God exists then there is no free will, since he was destined to betray Christ. It's all bullshit.

Religion has killed millions of people because it gives a reason for people to kill people. It is the cause of many of the wars that have happened. Religion has also been setting back our cultural and technological advancement. If the catholic church never controlled Europe during the middle ages then WW1 and WW2 wouldn't have happened and the problems in the middle east wouldn't have happened. Other then that a very large amount of people have been killed for no reason due to religious persecution.

    Religion is two things.
First and foremost it's a political tool used by the strong to govern the weak-minded.

It isn't a question of whether Japan, US, or any nation believes in spirits or a religion, but rather if they reject evolution. You can have a two different countries where 100% of the population believe in god, but the one that isn't considered outdated, in denial, and being stupid is the one that also has a population that believes in evolution and accepts both.

Keep in mind that science is put on a pedestal when it really shouldnt be. Science can only test things that are a part of nature. Also the subjects of science must be testable and repeatable. If these three conditions are not met then it cannot be confirmed by science.

The acceptance of Macro Evolution is due to historic and philosphical decisions NOT Scientific. Dont get me wrong science is extremely useful its just not the only way to go at things(and it can't).

Darwin discovered Micro evolution which is mutations of already existing DNA strands between two generations of a species. Also mutations only destroy or modify the DNA never adding to it.

So lets say that DNA can be added somehow. No matter how you get down to it DNA only changes when transferred to the next generation. So I ask you this how can chemicals reproduce? And how can you get enough complicated sugars to form the right sequences for DNA?

So in recap the evolution theory is a philosophical theory which has been chosen as a reason for the beginning of life through the course of history. So why is God thrown out the window? There are many reasons which will remain unlisted because you all know why or claim not to know.

All that is asked is to search reasonably with an open mind.

Also all this Hate and Bicker'n is the reason why most people just refuse to look for answers. Theres anough H8 here to form our own Spirit Ball of Spite and destruction!

    Take it EASY people.

I would ask you to define Macro-Evolution. Macro-evolution is just what you call micro-evolution over long periods of time. You are also mistaken in the belief that the theory of evolution explains the origin of life. It only explains speciation. You are referring to abiogenesis. Also you don't need to recreate evolution to prove it. You can see the evidence and tie it together. You are also mistaken in the belief that mutations cannot add to a dna strand. If I recall correctly there are three types of mutations replacements, deletions, and additions. There are also such things as self replicating polymers. You should look up abiogenesis seriously. God cannot be an answer because saying god did it is like saying you don't know. Evolution is based on proof and is used to make vaccinations every year for the flu. You should have listened when you were in elementary school.

Proof of Macro evolution has yet to be found and your your idea of micro evolution over time is only deductive not inductive.

God is a reasonable answer for the creation of our Universe. Can you give me a reason why not?

Again Evolution is a philosophical off shoot of micro evolution. Yes vaccinations are very useful I thank God for giving us the ability to deal with diseases. You can listen at anytime why not start now?

    Reasonable?!?

In the first place the idea of Creating is unacceptable... What is create? is it use different materials, applying certain rules to make something?
NO! of course not...can you create a house?
    No, you build houses
    Can you create a table?
    No! you manufacture tables
The fact is that creation is an invented concept you can't create anything.
    With that clear:
If god is perfect, why are its creations imperfect?
Have you ever asked yourself about the reason for "creation"?
Assuming that an entity had a conscience before anything existed. If god is perfect and its perfectly alone, it does not need nor desires help for anything, its perfectly calm and happy. And there is nothing that can diminish its state, and nothing that can increase its happiness and power.
Why would this being want to "create something?

The answer is logic; God by definition cant desire or persue anything.

Therefore, god's creation is a fallacy.
