Top fighting game franchise Tekken is due to receive a multiplatform release of its sixth incarnation, uninspiredly named Tekken 6, on both the PS3 and Xbox 360.
With detailed imagery of both versions now available, a thorough comparison of the two is possible:
Console fanatics may wish to latch on to clearly invisible minute differences between the two versions in order to demonstrate the superiority of their chosen platform.
Should that prove too much effort, the fact that the PS3 version is apparently set to display only in 1024×576 resolution with 2xAA whilst the Xbox version displays at a mere 1366×768 with no AA should be sufficient to establish the superiority of one version to the wretchedly inferior competing version.
The game is due at the end of October for both PS3 and Xbox 360.

TEKKEN IS FAIL DOA IS WIN
Why? Tekken seems to involve quite a bit more skill than DOA
thats exactly why its fail to most people. most people suck dick at fighting games, the more mash friendly the better.
That was a stupid and wholy disrespectful comment towards the very pwople who actually care about these games, sir. Go play with your Wii, then (this joke never gets old).
Look to all you fanboys of the 360 let me break something down for you. Tekken 6 and Tekken 6 BR are both built on the PS3's cell processor technology. The game looks amazing in the arcade. But in order for namco to make an equal product for both console they had dumb down the graphic engine for the PS3 port and make the X360 port slighty better. It's simple fact you can't deny it. Both look pretty much the same it's just shitty that they couldn't take full advantage of the processing power the PS3. But at the end of the day it doesn't matter. Noobs will get it on the 360 and hardcore Tekken players will get it on the PS3
Any reliable source for your two claims (the watering down of the PS3 port and the fact that hardcore Tekken players all own PS3s)?
Still, Tekken 3 for Playstation 1 is way more fun to play. In Gameplay VS Graphics, graphics never win.
Why doesn't this shitty fighting game series get non-flat, realistic stages already? Dead or Alive has them, Virtua Fighter 3 (and only that one, sadly) had them... plus, the floor textures look like ass.
Oh, and it's better to wait for some real performance comparison on these, like Digital Foundry's. With, you know, something better than useless artifact-filled low quality JPEGs...
Aaaand Tekken 6's original arcade version runs on System 357 hardware, which itself is based on PlayStation 3 hardware (as has always been the case with Namco games since around 1994), so the PS3 porting should be a breeze... no excuses this time when it comes and looks better on the 360. ;D
You're missing the point of these screens entirely.
Oh no, I do get it: that the differences are so minute, so imperceptible, that there's literally no point in arguing about which one looks better since it's all the damn same.
Of course, we'll see if that's the case when the game is finally released and DF does its magic. There's a chance that they're both technically identical in motion albeit having a great resolution discrepancy, though (as was the case with SoulCalibur IV: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/xbox-360-vs-ps3-face-off-round-14-article?page=2).
Xbox 360 more dark picture
Ps3 little more clear
=/
Nothing better than a console comparison thread to start a flamewar.. lol
360 fail anyway, why are you guys discussing this? FFXIII need 3 dics dont make me laugh.FAIL
ok, lets sum it up.
3DVDs.
estimated playtime each DVD 20 hours. More or less.
Takes 20 seconds to switch the DVD before you can go on.
Because you only have to switch twice (Disk 2 and 3) we come close to a minute waiting time.
Now...
1 Blue Ray DVD.
Since it's the PS3 and it's a big Game, we prolly have to install quite alot before we can even think about starting the Game.
Estimated Installation-time.. 20~30 minutes.
Even if its just 10 minutes. I prefer switching Disks every 15~20 hours for a few seconds instead of having to install the game on a CONSOLE before i can even play it.
Why do people still think that it is such a disadvantage to have 3 game disks instead of just 1?
butthurt fanboi much?
U cant proof that just yet!
you have to ask why multiple disks is a disadvantage? are you really being serious? why the fuck would you want more than 1 disc? youre actually bringing up installation time as a disadvantage? this is some kind of twisted troll right?
Multiple-disc spanning games' bitching coming form a PS3 "defender" is pretty lulzy, they always "forget" that many of their most beloved and all-important, almighty titles were multi-disc: Final Fantasies VII through IX, Resident Evil 2, Metal Gear Solid, Chrono Cross, Parasite Eve... way to go with that double standard!
FF XIII will have NO installation. Square said it, so your comment is so fail...
i'm bringing up installation time as a disadvantage because consoles were always Plug and Play.
and well, why is it a disadvantage to have more than 1 Disc? When i think about my old FF7 on my Playstation, i was happy that i had more disks. A friend scratched the 1st cd so bad that my PSX couldn't read it anymore. I was glad that i had a savegame which started at Disc 3. Even if i couldn't start the game over again, i was still able to play.
Thank god it had more discs than just 1.
See, i don't think having just 1 disc is a HUUUUGE advantage over 2 or more, like everyone seems to think.
Same here, there's even one at the University I attend.
I'm truely neutral when it comes to the 360/PS3 wars but, in this case(drum roll please)........................the 360 version pretty easily comes out on top.The frame rate ought to be better on the 360 version as well if the devs of the game use the extra video memory and the stronger gpu to their advantage.
how can you tell that when one is lit and the other isn't?
i also wasted a minute for each one to spot differences and i can only spot them on the second picture, in the 360 version the environment at the center of the image is darker than the ps3, if you notice in the 360 version the tree blends with the mountain because of the darkness while in the ps3 version you can see the branches... if thats good or bad i don't know
to me they look the same, both bad that is... probably because of the jpeg compression...
with this sort of comparison you would have to view the actual gameplay. a shity picture would never give the games due justice. so lets all wait to buy the game to see the freggin differences. duh
You cannot compare graphics quality with a lossy compression format, especially if the difference is minuscules to begin with.
The Xbox has SLIGHTLY smoother lighting effects, but I think everyone is missing the point: who's going to notice when you're actually PLAYING THE GAME?
I see no damn difference between the Xbox360 and Ps3 booth will look OK.
I have it preordered but now that I know it's not even 720p I might cancel it. Maybe for Tekken 7 they take the effort to make it full HD. WTF this low resolution on a 42ich TV will look shit.
Then buy the x360 version with higher resolution than 720p (1280x720) ;].
I see the difference; they both have horrible ground textures.
wow i thought that was a black sagat for a sec
arcana hearts 2 ps2 port owns these t6 ports for free
good thing to see Xbox taking the cake in this one
XBL > PSN
XBL ain't free, PSN is free
So thats a pointless comment
why the fuck are you comparing xbl and psn in a graphics comparison
yeah, agree, that XBL and PSN comparison is a fucking retarded faggotry....
what the fuck does xbl and psn have to do with tekken 6?
Street Fighter 4 > Tekken 6
Street Fighter 6 (after a few dozens of ALPHAs, Turbos and whatnot) > Tekken 15..
man, shit on tekken. Tekken was good when the PSX was still THE console. I loved Tekken 3 back then.
SF4 is horrible. Not only does it look horrible, but it's just over all horrible. At least Tekken has changed over the years... SF was getting somewhere amazing with SF Alpha and SF3 progressing it, but then they decided to go back to SF2. SF4 is pure SF2 fans' fanservice from top to bottom, plain and simple.
That said:
SFA3 or SF3TS >>>>>>>>> Tekken 6 >>>>>>> SF4
look the smoke in the pic nmber 3 compar
360 is better ..
dee dur dee, i don't understand pictures were taken in different frames
this is fake!!! look at the name for the fighters!!xbox 1 have diffrent name
Overall performance, ergonomics and flexibility:
360 > Saturn (both original and multicontroller) > Xbox Controller S > DualShock > Genesis/ Mega Drive 6-buttons > GameCube > Nintendo 64 > [insert various systems here] > Wii
Not every single one, but most of them either have higher resolution/ better graphics, a higher/ more stable framerate, or have less glitches/ bugs on the 360.
The Internet is chock full of research on this subject (and porn, but that's beyond the point), so it isn't necessary to own either of the two systems to have an extensive comparison.
Bamco damn downgraded the PS3 version. The arcade that runs on PS3 is displaying 720p.
The PS3 home version should be displayed at 1080p w/c was originally intended. >_<
LOOK I HAVE A 360 AND PS3 AND I AM BUYING IT ON 360 BECAUSE I BELIEVE ONLINE IT IS A BETTER SYSTEM. THERE IS NOT MUCH DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO GRAPHICALLY and is not worth my time thinking about it.I do believe that the xbox 360 is a better system at the moment and i spend more time on it. But in the future i tend to believe the ps3 will start to dominate the market mainly because of the blue ray capabilities
From David Mudge daveeboy@windowslive.com
I don't give a shit about these comparasion as long as i get to play the games i want.
I have ps3 atm but gonna get 360 so i can play Alan Wake and some other 360 exclusives.
What a fucking fanboy article
if you don't like that than don't write.
Most of the time these topics are all the same anyway. I was just letting players know what feels better for me when playing fighting games.
And to me Xbox 360 is better for fighter's.
I underdtand there will be players who will dissagree with me on that but hey that's there opinion.
I can never find and matches when playing fighting games on PSN, and if I do it's a shit connection.
I play my PS3 for single player games and Blu-Ray movies cause it's crap in the online department.
zomg its looks soo much better on that console because i have a huge gaping vagina.
Fighting games for me are way better on Xbox 360.
Online is way serperior aswell.
I still have troubles finding a match on Street Fighter IV (PS3) that I gave up.
I always find good connections when playing fighting games on Xbox 360.
The same will be for Tekken 6.
I've been using the 360 D-Pad for years now and I really don't see any issue with it.
DOA is a fantastic fighting game, great graphics and very smooth gameplay.
Tekken is a good fighting game but I prefer the real legend that is SoulCalibur.
Tekken still feels old and outdated compared to the games that use the 8 way run with analog sticks.
You still have to hold back in Tekken to block where every other fighting game uses a button.
Holding back to block should stay in Street Fighter and only Street Fighter.
Also when you get knocked down in tekken it's a hellish experiance when facing cheap ass characters like Lili to get back up.
The recovery response is horrible in tekken games.
SoulCalibur IV may not have been the the best in the series but the previous games I will remember and cherish forever.
Don't see a difference, so whatever.
Still excited though. :)
