Keen observation by fans of nopan mahjong anime Saki has revealed that the anime is environmentally conscious enough to recycle frames from earlier episodes wherever possible, which some unkind fans have labeled a cheap cost-cutting measure by a studio on the brink of disaster.
You can see the entire comparison in terrifying detail in this huge jpg.
With Gonzo delisted from the stock exchange after narrowly avoiding bankruptcy, Shaft apparently unable to finish its episodes on time, and Kyoto Animation entirely detached from reality, it seems the mighty have truly fallen…

Inglorious Bastards!
Let's kill somes nazis (anime producers)
oh yes yes yes yes
Cousin, business is a boomin' (sort of).
uh wow
I'm pragmatic. As long as it isn't obvious and the quality is good they can recycle as much as they want.
Better this than new drawn crap quality.
OH SHIT THEY RECYCLED FRAMES! IT'S THE END OF DAYS!
What a sad state of affairs...here's hoping a major turn-around occurs, ey?
as long as they keep drawing quality breasts I can accept these ;)
RECYCLED BREASTS~!
So lazy!
Datte hontou ha crazy
+1
weeaboozz
props to ppl who wasted there time looking for all this
You probably don't need all that much effort when you think "gee, I think I've seen this before in this anime"
They probably wrote some program that searches for duplicate frames
This is really a problem?
I don't know this news.........
Anime using stock footage.
Don't people nowadays realize reusing animation is a great tradition in anime. From transformation sequences to special attacks, even the classic Evangelion, a tradition passed on to this very day.
Don't forget DBZ's infamous five minute recap of the previous episode, five minute preview of the next episode, and ten minutes of powering up in between.
Yeah, at least the story is proceeding with a proper route compared to those which keep on repeating the same CG and stuffs or even those with 5 min preview of previous episodes.
don't forget about sailor moon. that transformation scene is ridiculous
I wanna see Saki's transformation sequence. I don't think I'd become tired of seeing her get naked no matter how many times they recycled it.
Finally someone who isn't infected by "if it's old and classic, it's 100% perfect" disease..
I haven't watched that piece of shit Naruto in a long time but there was a period in the early episodes when the panning, zooming in and out, and other crap production time and money saving tricks were so obtrusive I would yell insults at the screen to keep from having a stroke.
Sadly it was not this apparent.
I don't think there is anything that can beat Gundam Seed/Gundam Seed Destiny in the recycling department. They even had the balls to reuse a scene of Freedom(instead of Strike Freedom) in final episode of GSD. And what quality? Who are they kidding? Those craps are garbage.
agreed, the cheapskate Zaku and Gouf recycling.
Scenes of drone (dragoon or whatever shit they call it) attacks look very similar when different mecha using it.
Btw, in most anime special attack scene and transformation scene is always repeated, but different character has different animation. Not like the stupid GSD.
fail.
Recycling animation is very frequent in cartoons. Usually not so obviously used in anime, except in slapstick comedy. What is wrong in re-using a throw of Riichi stick, when it isn`t very different in reality?
This, apparently people don't understand how business works. Reanimating repeated actions being done by the same characters in the same place would be a retarded waste of time and money on the part of the studio.
at least MadHouse is doing ok
ya know, kids, there are places on the interweb where using the same image repeatedly in different contexts is considered humorous. *cough (/b/)
fail
Just remember anime like Sailor Moon, Revolutionary Girl Utena, and many many other have used recycled footage. All in order to cut cost without cutting quality. :D
There's a little saying, on the planet I hail from:
"If you can make it fit the plot, you're not doing anything wrong."
Exactly. In fact, look at some of the older anime. They saved cash by panning and zooming in/out on big scenes (some still do that to this day). Gonzo is doing scene recycling (milking) the right way.
im not gonna blame them, animating things is very time consuming, especially when you got a dead line you must meet, or your fucked.
I don't think this kind of thing can be avoided in a mahjong anime
I mean c'mon, they're playing a board game, you can't expect them to have multiple animations for each episode right?
just an opinion
somehow akagi had some animations :(
One reason amongst many why Akagi is fun to watch.
Since when is it a new thing for animation to recycle frames? I mean, name me one anime in existance other then maybe a movie, that doesnt have a repeated frame.
Fail.....
Gintama
150+ episodes and never a resued sceen. Like a shot of somones expresion, or a building. Thats most impressive, and also impossible.
Sorry failing anon Gintama has reused their frame and scene numerous time, the only difference is they make fun of their recycle frame(scene)
