Keen observation by fans of nopan mahjong anime Saki has revealed that the anime is environmentally conscious enough to recycle frames from earlier episodes wherever possible, which some unkind fans have labeled a cheap cost-cutting measure by a studio on the brink of disaster.

I'm sorry, but they are playing F@#$ING MAHJONG!!! There is no reason not to recycle footage of them sitting on their asses and staring at their tiles. Complaining about the recycled footage is on par with complaining each time a game sprite recycles its breathing animation. There's nothing going on, so its a waist to make all new animation.

I don't see what's so bad about it.. Many many animation studios over the world do the same thing.. Saves time and money. If the frame is basically going to be the same anyway why re-do it all from nothing..
im not gonna blame them, animating things is very time consuming, especially when you got a dead line you must meet, or your fucked.
I don't think this kind of thing can be avoided in a mahjong anime
I mean c'mon, they're playing a board game, you can't expect them to have multiple animations for each episode right?

Exactly. In fact, look at some of the older anime. They saved cash by panning and zooming in/out on big scenes (some still do that to this day). Gonzo is doing scene recycling (milking) the right way.
Just remember anime like Sailor Moon, Revolutionary Girl Utena, and many many other have used recycled footage. All in order to cut cost without cutting quality. :D
Since when is it a new thing for animation to recycle frames? I mean, name me one anime in existance other then maybe a movie, that doesnt have a repeated frame.

150+ episodes and never a resued sceen. Like a shot of somones expresion, or a building. Thats most impressive, and also impossible.
Sorry failing anon Gintama has reused their frame and scene numerous time, the only difference is they make fun of their recycle frame(scene)
