State Funds “Feminist” Porn

dirtydiaries-flashergirl-metro.jpg

The recent release of a series of hardcore porn movies entirely funded by the Swedish government for being “feminist porn” which “challenges traditional gender roles” has angered some who think the state should not be making pornography with taxpayer funds.

Most oddly of all it seems the Swedish state is funding feminists to organise illegal acts of indecent exposure, as pictured above…

The short films, titled “Dirty Diaries,” include a variety of themes, all centred on hardcore sex, and incorporating all sexual orientations. They received 500,000 kronor, roughly $70,000, from the government. All the makers are or “have become” women.

A preview is visible on their (English) website.

Creator Mia Engberg describes how she is at the vanguard of the assault on the patriarchy with her porn movies:

“Throughout the history of art, the image of woman has been created by men. The gaze has been a man’s gaze and female sexuality has been limited to a few identities that have suited the patriarchal system (and the male artistic ego): whore, wife, mother, muse.

So what is feminist porn? There’s no easy answer to that question. Dirty Diaries is made up of twelve very different films: soft erotica and hardcore porn, hetero and homo, provocation, penetration and visual poetry… This is just the beginning, and I hope to see the creation of more alternative images that challenge stereotypical gender roles.”

The public body responsible for funding the project, the Swedish Film Institute, says feminist porn is completely superior to regular sexist porn and so deserves state funds:

“Everyone in the films is over the age of 18, no one is doing anything against their will, everyone shares equally in the money from the films. All of this makes Mia Engberg’s project different from regular porn in many ways. This is an ambitious project that in both form and content lives up to the demands we set for the projects we support.”

Engberg herself says the money could not be better spent than by her, on lesbian porn:

“We are producing 70 minutes of high quality film… it’s just 500,000 kronor. They couldn’t spend the money any better.”

However, when asked whether regular porn made by men should be given the same treatment, she is outraged:

“They should not be given any money at all, especially when they are making money out of women’s bodies.”

    IT'S MY FUCKING TAX MONEY!!

I can't believe my tax money is spent on funding projects like this. If they want to create a bad porn movie, start a new business, whatever, they should contact the bank and/or investors, just like everybody else have to do when seeking funds!

It should be said that our tax pressure in Sweden is over 50%. So, when working a whole year, 6 months of salary is paid in tax to the state, the remaining 6 months of salary we keep ourselves, or pay in tax again when we buy things as our VAT is 25%.

This is terrible! The country with high taxes is funding a feminist movie for $70,000!

In America , our tax money gets us good wholesome wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Sweden should take notes on our good use of tax money.

Well, since we paid it, shouldn't we get it for free? Isn't that the point of taxes? Right?

Most cultural projects in Sweden receive some sort of governmental funding, even though it costs money to attend. Theatrical plays are a prime example.

Am I the only one who thinks this is awesome? Regular porn is crap anyway, I'm curious about this stuff. :'D

    Isn't this a bit...hypocritical..
I'm a girl, but I still don't like the word "Feminism." I think it's the same as Chauvinism for some of them.

Not all of them are domineering like this. Some ACTUALLY fight for womens rights were it is still needed. Here is America, we've got it, and then some.

    I'm a bit stuck here...

“They should not be given any money at all, especially when they are making money out of women’s bodies.”

    - but, isn't that basically what they are doing as well? Just because it is a woman that make the money out of some other woman's body and not a man doing so doesn't really change anything. Right?

    @ Anon 06:02

One day you might actually have to buy stuff in the store and enjoy having one fifth of the price going straight into the governments pocket. Or maybe you'll buy alcohol or gas, and pay more than half to the government.

Tax burden in Sweden was 47.8% last year, so we're pretty close to 50%, though it has gone down a little in recent years.

I think there should be more projects like this, slowly take over the porn industry and create a profitable return for the government.

shouldn't the profits go back to the government...seeing as how its investing in these films...

could be a great money making opportunity...if that fails then just call it a feminist public service announcement. =D

    Lol moron.

One feminist doing smething does not mean that all do this.

Also, this makes sense, and if you'd have any clue about the country, you'd know what else they fund. Sigh americans without a clue about other countries, no wonder you fear feminists that much. Uneducated men have the most to lose.

“They should not be given any money at all, especially when they are making money out of women’s bodies.”

What the hell? This is bullshit... This sounds like an issue of double standards, again. They are pretty much doing the same thing, making movies of sexual nature. I'll bet that she pays for manwhores and says it is alright.
