One of 2ch’s relentless researchers recently collected these images of ancient baseball Taisho Yakyuu Musume ( 大正野球娘 / Taisho Baseball Girls), comparing a pair of the source 3D images of early 20th Century Japanese schoolgirls used for the show’s OP and ED sequences to the somewhat idealized 2D end result.
The second comparison, from the show’s ED:
Obviously, the choice for the preferred depiction of Taisho era Japanese school life is a given here, in one of the easier such comparisons that have become quite popular online.
In case you are wondering about the possible source of the photos, it was previously featured and may be of some interest.

Gotta watch this just because i saw a cute meganekko and an Iori-look-a-like...
yes thats what i thought at first but koume will turn out to be one of the best characters in any show this season
if i have to describe them with one word it would be "Potato"
why do i think the look better in 2D?
Too obvious to wonder...
Kinda remind me of my mom's old photo
simca was creeped out
2D > 3D
nuff said
XDD
lol, 3D just so sh!t
I thought musume = daughter(s)
It can be interpreted as "daughter", "young girl", "young lady", etc.
I gave it as "Girls" since that seemed to be the most popular name online.
Nice article Quen! And good answer to the musume question.
got to see this show
thank god for 2D.
No, thank Japan for 2D.
God made disgusting pig.
This anime is good, that is if you like something original this season
This..
is ..
...a casual combo breaker. ;)
YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH
This anime is excellent.
It has no mecha, no swimsuits, no panty shots, no frantic pacing.
It is an interesting examination of a historic period and the attitudes and social forces at work during a period of cultural transition.
There is some gentle humor in the presentation.
It may take some intelligence to appreciate. All compulsive masturbators and attention deficit sufferers are warned. You should focus elsewhere for shallow gratification.
... so when we're done with that, we'll think about watching this one.
Thanks!
It doesn't take any intelligence in watching clouds in the sky, or watching paint dry, either.
thanks for giving me hope on SanCom
My thoughts exactly.

I agree with Anonymous (#1) on his/her opening descriptive statements concerning this Animé Taisho Yakyuu Musume ( 大正野球娘 / Taisho Baseball Girls.)
S/He is dead on.
In addition ~
You can (sort of) compare it with the Tom Hanks film: "A league of their Own"
Here is more info courtesy of Wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_League_of_Their_Own
In which ~ women started to play baseball in the US during the WWII Era. ~ however, THIS takes place before that Era.
==
Concerning the Animé ~
Anyone who misses this animé, will be missing out on a excellent animé.
This animé (in it's own way), explains the trails and tribulations of what women experienced while furthering themselves in something "new" and are told can't do (because) they should only regulate themselves to the kitchen and for serving man.
Concerning the photo comparisons ~
You can see the (obvious) similarities between the old and animé versions, one *just* needs to open the eyes!
So ~ open your mind, take a chance, and watch this animé!!
I recommend this animé for those who enjoy history and want to learn more about what is beyond the normal typical animé fare!
women should become housewives instead of going to school..
Ton of bad taste in this article's comment section. Taisho is arguably the best show this season.
Actually, the girls on the 3d one look all the same...
Clone science; existed since Taisho era.
Yeah, the reality of 3D is just that harsh. If they all burned to ashes the percentage of cute girls in the world would raise and make everyone a favor, but who is enough of a sociopath and a misogynist to put it in words with such a dramatically wrong choice of place and moment?
That's part of the reason the 2D girls have different clothing, hair color and hair styles.
Heh. Cute.
Is the anime any good?
it's GREAT, anyone who loved bamboo blade will love this one.
i'm not entirely sure how anyone could suggest that the show is "no good".
the girls are all distinct and cute, the story is charming, the details are funny and the acting is terrific.
yes, the anime is awesome
is no good. maybe
That would be a shame. I was interested in this since it takes place in a time period you normally don't see in anime.
Actually the show is not too bad. While it is not the most interest or exciting show, it is still a good show to watch and relax with.
I enjoy it actually. It's kind of like a K-On but with baseball, but less focus on slice of life and more focus on baseball.
/off topic
Best slice-of-life recent baseball anime is Cross Game
/on topic
Touch! says no.
this anon speaks the truth
Major ~Girl version~
*Yeah, i mean Major. An anime about baseball.
This anime is shit.
your mom
your mom

+1
screw you guys, moe moe baseball, how could you not like it?!
maybe because I don't fucking like baseball huh?
+1 Because Little Busters! is also baseball-themed. AND THAT'S ALSO MOE MOE BASEBALL, but then with a _little_ melodrama.
musical in the first episode? nothing moe about it either. Besides, unless the balls used are water ballons who watches baseball for the moe?
