Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso has told the nation’s youth that they shouldn’t marry if they have no money, and that they can’t expect any respect from their partner if they have no money.
In remarks to a gathering of students, he had this to say about marriage at a (relatively) young age, in response to the question “Many young people can’t afford to get married, isn’t this contributing to the low birth rate?”:
“If you have no money it is best not to marry. I feel it’d be pretty hard to get any respect as a marriage partner if you have no income.”
Japanese demographers predict a population collapse if another generation puts off having children.
Aso is famous for putting his foot in his mouth unusually often even for one of Japan’s worthless politicians, but in this case his comments appear quite deliberate.
For a man who is supposed to be tackling the issue of Japan’s ongoing demographic collapse, his words certainly seem ill considered…

Of course, no Japanese woman would ever marry a poor man so perhaps the issue is moot.
No wonder the world is so fucked up now. just because you have some assholes like Taro aso in position of power.
Dumb idiots like him telling others who’s worthless and who’s not, does not deserve to be in position of power.
He likely means this in as well a sense as he can. When he means marriage he’s likely talking about having kids. The financial pros of marriage are obvious, but often the poor have statistically been known to foster more children than they can care for (the rich have fewer, generally speaking). Of course I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt, and assuming he’s not a “ONLY THE RiCH SHOULD ENJOY MARRIAGE OR ANY SORT OF SEX ELL OH ELL”
And also, it’s easy to rap on him for sounding like an asshole, but think about it from a personal perspective. If you can’t provide for the one you love and protect them.. I know personally that’s at the very least, a very hard decision to make, knowing that I won’t be able to keep her or any potential children stable.
Then again, inb4 OMG TRULOVE ALWAYS FINDS A WAY, which, in certain ways I guess, is kinda true, but it also kinda isn’t :/

i’m not happy japan has this kind of person in the drivers seat, but the situation here (croatia) is at least a bit more bearable now i know we’re not the only ones having idiots in office… and here, the government’s latest genocidal plan (floating down the river with a bullet in the back is now outdatad) involves keeping nuclear waste in middle of the capital! duh!
