UN Demands Hentai Ban

The UN has told Japan it must ban adult games and erotic manga featuring themes of rape, calling Japan’s protection of fictional women from fictional rape “inadequate.”
The demands come by way of the UN’s radical feminist arm, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, or CEDAW. Extreme feminist pressure group Equality Now previously vowed to make them seek such a ban, and it seems CEDAW happily complied.
Calling Japan’s treatment of women “inadequate” and “regrettable,” CEDAW formally demanded Japan end “human rights violations” against women by banning games and manga featuring themes of “rape and sexual violence.” It is not clear whether they extend their demands to anime, AV or literature, though this seems likely.
The suggestion that fictional works such as manga serve to promote sexual violence is entirely unproven; it is notable that Japan has some of the lowest rates of crime and sexual violence in the world, and yet some of the most abundant pornography, much of which deals with such themes.
This is of course undoubtedly tied to the intervention of busybody international feminist groups in Japanese politics after the Rapelay scandal…

This is completely untrue. There is plenty of data suggesting that exposure to pornography leads to an increase in sexual crimes.

And regarding Berl Kutchinsky and Annika Snare: Oops, looks like you cited the wrong study... You do realize that their research actually indicated the complete opposite of the point you're trying to make? They studied (for two decades) the effects of the legalization of hardcore porn in Denmark back in the 60s, and their findings were that no such increase was evident. Their work has been confirmed by numerous criminologists of other European countries that made that move at the time...

Men and women are not equal, that's a fact. It's quite more difficult for a woman to rape a man than the opposite.

Although I do agree with you that rape eroge are kind of meant for a niche audience, I still believe that rape eroge are still part of freedom of speech and expression and therefore shouldn't be banned.
That's because women actually care about this stuff. After all, they feel they've like they've been discriminated against all over the world for far too long. Not to mention they feel it's their right to be able to protest in the 'modern' world. While I agree that they should be able to protest against things that actually DO discriminate against women, I think the holy war they're trying to rage to protect fictional women is silly. They should really focus on countries where violence against women is actually high (of course I'm not going to name any countries in particular but I think we all have a country in mind). Seen in another way, these partciular feminists may see this as a chance to get some much needed attention from world governments, since, after all, 'morality' is on their side. They may also see this as a battle that they can actually win, unlike trying to change policies in western contries. This confidence is further boosted by the success brought on by the Rapelay removal. The point is, they're not going to stop lobbying them, much like how a child will not stop throwing a tantrum against a parent until the child gets what they want. So until either something else bigger comes up, or Japan gives in like they did with the eariler bans, CEDAW will hound them like hungry dogs.
