I think the point is that the Haruhi fans NEVER asked for Kyoani to kon-ify the character designs. We NEVER asked for an 8-episode Endless Eight, and we DID ask for Disappearance.

KyoAni is not only ignoring, but contradicting the fanbase. What the fuck is going on with them!?

But Yui is a cute good girl and Haruhi is a crazy bitch.
Even with the same style visually K ON is better, its more more.

    This is a travesty!

But really I don't care, except for how the characters almost always seem to be crossing their eyes now.

They have improved the animation over some of the E8/Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody episodes. Still it couldn't have been so hard to use the original S1 animation style. Moeblobs were okay for K-On, but this is Haruhi.

I guess fans are still butthurt bitter about E8 that they even tend to cherry pick stuffs just to release their angst over the whole season. Well can't blame them. If you're expecting something great with that rage inside you. Good luck....

i had felt that k-on was created to capitalize on the success of haruhi, specifically the enoz part.
    nothing wrong with that.

good episode since it had a great song and was totally unexpected.
an all girl band has a lot of appeal.

for some reason my brain thinks k-on is the band enoz.
k-on and haruhi characters are in the same universe so they all go to the same school.
the day of that festival yui and azusa could not make it so they got haruhi and yuki to fill in.

might have been an interesting crossover.
you would occasionally see the other show in the background, especially the surreal exploits of sos brigade from k-on point of view.
from time to time they would bump into each other,
maybe even something that happens in one show greatly affecting the other show.

then they could have haruhi 2nd season which would also explain what they saw in k-on (except getting k-on getting stuck in haruhi's endless eight)

Johannes Krauser II on k-on was pretty funny though

K-ON! is a decent anime, has a fairly unique plot but in the end it reminds me of silly high schoolers doing random stuff more then it reminds me of a music animation. K-ON looks new but it's also old, it reminds me alot of lucky star and azumanga. Haruhi in the other hand took it to the next level, it's so insane it's amazing, you can actually think while watching it, you try make sense of apparently senseless things, props to the novel author on the matter.

I prefer the placement of the newer eye design but the angularity of the original. Gives Haruhi a more serious and less "moe moe look at me let's copy k-on" look.

oyi... did they forget to look at Itou Noiji's design chart? Seriously, it was perfect for the show.

K-On Haruhi just doesn't work IMO. It looks like it blinked into Shoujo or something...

As I posted before. Why are they going all crazy about this? They're both from the same animation company, so it isn't all that surprising if the drawing looks similar since drawing will change over years. Anyways, I prefer the new art style anyways. More cuter, more moe.

Not to mention, I went back to an old season 1 DVD and the only change I see on Haruhi (apart from the image being flipped here on the web) is that the outside lines around the eyes are lighter.

I think a more valid argument is that the K-On chartypes are just rip-offs of the designs in Haruhi Season 1.

The Itoh-derived originals felt original, and yet realistic, like a lighter GiTS:SAC almost. I loved all the ugly people in the background of the 'movie'.

K-ON!, and to some extent the new season, feels like moefication by committee.
Even Taniguchi is noticeably cuter, now. That's just wrong.

I don't understand why you would start watching Haruhi 2 in the first place if "I've already read it" is a reason to drop. You've already read ALL of them.

To Anon, it's nice to see that what you have read gets animated, to check if it meets what the novel implied, now the topic is based on the character designs so the "i've already read it" reasons does not bear any weight to the question.

    Pay attention, please.

But even in Bamboo Rhapsody, it's not as evident...
It just blares out at us now...

My question is, in all honesty, no biased opinions or false accusations...
    Is this just KyoAni style?
Or are they really going after the K-ON design?

this so called "K-ON" style should actually be called "Munto" style...seriously guys....they did it first, too bad no one watched it.

Also the animation may not be the same as season 1 (which was imo one of the best animation ever) but its still good animation anyways, better than a lot of the shitty animation on other series right now.

To me this animation makes them look closer to Noizi Ito's original designs, so I dont think they look bad.

yea you are right the designs loo more similar to originals, and the designs are not bad its just akward to see the difference between episodes, but to be realistic this is for money, k-on gave them money for its moe designs, and lets accept it we all would do it for the money

Haruhi is a LightNovel, K-ON! is a 4koma manga, they are both different in the desing and author, the studio should keep at least a bit of the original character desings, Simpsoms and Futurama are original works...I guess lol.

And while the style was similar. Leela didn't look like Marge, Fry didn't look like Homer, Bender didn't look like Bart.

And I'd also like to point out that Mad House did Black Lagoon, Gunslinger Girl, Ultraviolet: Code 044 and Devil May Cry to name some relatively recent works. Style is similar, but the characters don't morph into one and other, like they are in this particular Haruhi/K-On case.

However Simpsons & futurama had both the same studio & creator.
