    Take a great game and turn it into a faggety kawaii girls with guns school drama like anime romp

    Even valkyria chronicles isn't safe from the stolen panty storyline that degraded the anime to sad depths.

    Fuck this worthless anime, just give us a new ps3 game, not a fucking psp one.

    Early charac design for Welkin is nice, but for Alicia, yuck. But still, I'd stick with the final designs. :)

    The original Welkin character design is interesting, but the original Alicia has horrible eyes. Thank heavens they changed that.

    It follows the basic outline of the game's story, none of the major plot points are changed, though the actual execution of those plot points are changed, sometimes significantly, to make it work better for an anime. The biggest changes are the fact that Zaka doesn't join the party after Fouzen (which makes sense as he didn't really do anything after that point anyway, story-wise) and the expansion of the Welkin/Alicia romance subplot into a Welkin/Faldio/Alicia love triangle and the necessary ensuing alterations to the characters (Alicia is more tsundere and Welkin is more stupid.) The second one is where 90% of the bitching about the anime comes from.

    Not very well. Writers seem to think Faldio is the main character, Welkin is marginalized to making Faldio look good, and this war story is mostly ignored for SUGOKU KAWAII RAABU DRAMA x3

    Yeah!!! Fuck Faldio, also what the fuck is up with male mangakas these days trying to make reverse Harem by including 2 guys x 1 girl in their fucking manga reserved to boys ? No wonder Shonen manga sales keep decreasing these days... Honestly, if I wanna read that kind of shit, I can go grab a random Shojo shit that is so overflowing with sex these days and will ALWAYS get that kind of plot.

    i believe the anime follows the manga and not the game.

    The combat/war is phased out mostly and it is indeed more a drama and love interest. faldio, who is a minor role in the game, is given huge screen time in contrast to Welkin, who is made out to be a stupid fuck. Alicia...is always kawaii.

    I wouldn't so much say that Welkin is stupid as that he has psychological problems when it comes to forming relationships with females.

    If, I were a Freudian, I'd attribute it to him growing up without a mother. :P

    But seriously, we're currently at episode 18. About the only normal relationship with a female that Welkin has been in, that we've been shown is/was his brother-sister relationship with Isara.

    I mean, there was the babe at their university that everyone was after, even Faldio, and she went after Welkin and he turned her down. I mean, he's still in his physical prime, his hormones should be screaming at him to hump some lady, yet he doesn't.

    So his reluctance to admit to Alicia that he cares about her, isn't that odd in that light.

    Also he's not really the confrontational type. I mean, Faldio has usurped the command of Squad 7 on a number of occasions. Most professional officers would've had words with Faldio about this already. Once, might be tolerated, but not twice or more. And especially, not when it gets civvies killed. (Then again, iirc, Welkin didn't really want to be an officer either, but automatically became one, due to his university background.) *shrugs*
