Sony Puritans: “Sony Check” Worse Than Nintendo

Hey, everyone in mah family loevs cleaning naked lolis, so no need to censor it.

Srsly, is it really so horrible? In modern thriller/horror movies we see much more horrible things. Like a depiction of a magnum bullet blow young girl's brains out (The Hills Have Eyes), or a girl being raped and than butchered with knife (Last House on the Left). And children do watch them you know.

I think it's far worse than even CP.

I always liked Nintendo more. Hopefully, this will prove to immature console fanboys that Nintendo isn't "kiddy".

It seems like the concept of the game alone makes it not a family game, but isn’t that what ratings are for? Nothing pisses me off more than when I see some shit like this, is Sony trying to put a rating system on its own console? If something in a video game is inappropriate for young players then they or their parents simply don’t purchase it. It’s just so annoying when things get censored for younger audiences, like a bloody violent game is going to be okay for kids just because they censor the box art, or adding a little extra steam in a game where you wash naked lolis is going to make it family friendly!

I had the upmost faith in Sony when I bought my PS3 for $600 when they first came out. But now none of the good PS3 games even come out in America now, Xbox gets all the exclusives, Nintendo is starting to actually impress me, and now this…

Heh, considering how awesome Madworld and No More Heroes are, I think Nintendo's strategy on the matter is a mostly sound one.

bwaahahah. i bought the wii version last year. so when i just saw this headline i was shocked, because i thought a new PS2 version with more CGs and more features was released. fortunately i was wrong.

That traditional image of Nintendo hasn't been the case for at least 10 years now (I think it stopped around the time of the N64).

Sony actually does content checks when you develop a game for their platforms and they can kill your project at 5 milestone points during that project (where you have to submit your game).

Nintendo only does a technical check-up at the end (which every console maker does, Sony and Microsoft too).

I'm a game developer so I know all this. Sony is content-aware and (under the mantle of "ensuring quality content") also kills projects they deem unsuitable for their consoles.

Nintendo allows everything as long as the technical requirements are met.

How do you think all the shovelware on Nintendo consoles made it through?

Sony worse than Nintendo? How is it that the platform made for adults is being censored more than the platform made for children? It befuddles the mind.

Anyone who has been paying attention for a while knows Sony is infamous for this. Nintendo doing such censorship is a thing of the long-ago past before game ratings.

There was a time when Nintendo got in troubles with the FCC for antitrust litigation. Well, those days are long gone. Sony is the new overlord of draconian practices. It's like uncontrolled AIDS where the viral load keeps going up and up, until shits hit the fence. They need to be curbed before it's too late.
