Woman Sues Alma Mater: “I Can’t Get a Job”

A recent graduate is suing her alma mater after failing to find work after gaining her degree, alleging the university did not support her enough in finding work.
The woman, a 27-year-old graduate of New York’s Monroe College, recently received in April a degree in information technology from the establishment at a cost of some $70,000.
However, after graduation she could not find work. In the time honoured tradition of American litigation, she opted to sue the college to recoup her tution fees, filing a lawsuit at the Bronx Supreme Court alleging “They have not tried hard enough to help me,” and that they did not provide the support promised.
Her mother chimes in that her daughter is “very angry at her situation” as she had “put all her faith” in the institution’s job finding prowess.
The college for its part scathingly dismisses her allegations, saying “The college prides itself on the excellent career-development support that we provide to each of our students, and this case does not deserve further consideration,” and that the case is “completely without merit.”

with the economy in this state, it shouldn't be a surprise that you can't if find a job, who would want to hire a new employee when they already have enough that know the economy sucks donkey balls and come to work everyday on time, instead of taking a risk and hiring a new one and having them not show up after a few weeks.

1. Recent Graduate = Probably no experience
2. Economic depression = hiring freezes, layoffs and essentially no jobs

I myself can't find a job or even continue studying (at Master degree) because the system changed meanwhile and the kids a year younger than me can easily get higher marks (which is what matters), even if I have more experience in the field than them.

This isn't uncommon to put in their brochures, almost every private college does that and doesn't live up to it.
She does have a point about accusing them of these false promises though, but a lawsuit would be pointless.

This woman paid $70,000 for a degree which is pretty much useless in finding a job. Unless the school warned her along the way that the job market was changing radically and she didn't pay attention, she was scammed.
Many low end colleges recruit bodies as a way of tapping into grants, scholarships, loan programs, in a cynical bid to profit off students knowing that what they are providing is a waste of time and money.
Looking at the schools web site it has an agressively multi-cultural set of student photos and prominently displays references to various financial aid and grant programs.
It's easy to mock her, but let's realize that many colleges are selling useless bullshit which is no less a criminal act than a conman swindling you.
No. The school gave her what she wanted. If I went into interior design and the design market was in/on its way into the crapper it would be my own damn fault for not paying attention. The school is payed to educate, not to hold your hand, tell you you're special and do all the hard work for you. She got what she wanted, she's just too much of a bitch to take responsibility.
As for the college trying to get at money and being conmen for it, I disagree. Colleges are bussinesses. Of course the want money. They're going to list financial aid and grant programs to say "see, you can pay us this way, we won't turn you away for it."
Anyone going into college should know what they're going for before jumping in head first like a pants-on-head retard. If you pick a useless degree it's your own fault for not doing any research and going with what seemed easiest.

The chances of her case going through is slim to none. In fact, it can backfire and cost her more money...frivolous lawsuits sometimes incur fines.

In this case, though, her rendition of justice won't prevail unless some snappy defender takes her case thinking it has a shot and a chance.
The problem is- the US is a CAPITALIST democracy. By spending money and carefully targeting your complaints, you have drastically higher chances of your version of justice prevailing.
Which is still better than the UK, which in it's eternal wisdom allows rapists to sue their victims for emotional whiplash- and win.
All in all, I guess it can't be helped.
