As you can see, not only will there likely be four discs of Endless Eight at full price, they are also patting themselves on the back for their cleverness in identifying the discs only by lengthy and non-sequential series of numbers. As expected of marketing geniuses.

I can kinda get the fun-factor in this loop. I don't like it, but I understand the idea behind it. What I cannot believe is the fact that about a third of all Haruhi episodes is going to be the same fucking thing.
In 5 years, when some kid decides to watch some anime, he's bound to hear about Haruhi. And what does he see ? 8 episodes out of 25 that are identical. It's just a stain on the overall series.

Man, how ignorant can you be? Don't blame KyoAni for this, they're as fed up as we are. The producers are Kadokawa. Why the hell would KyoAni do entirely new animation for each episode if they were just looking for a profit? That was their way of rebelling imo, though they could have done it better. Like different animation styles instead of just different angles and shit. That could have been fun. But anyway, they are not responsible for the direct decision.

I think the idea of endless eight as not a bad one, they just carried it too far and ruined it completely, leaving bad after taste.
Had they only done four episodes, the fourth being the last one, this could have been epic, unprecedented in anime and very much in tune with Haruhi's eccentric fashion of organizing episodes and storyline.
Second and third would have had to be more different from each other, with the third being close to ending it, (the one with the plane signs) but coming short for the fourth to finish.
I never expect KyoAni to do something like this. Then again, what the hell do I know.
When KyoAni and Kadokawa become bankrupt as a result of no one buying any of the 4+ DVDs of Endless Eight, they'll blame this all on torrents + fansubs. :/

2006 Season was released on 8 DVD.
The first DVD was simply called "Adventures of Mikuru Asahina Episode 00". Seven other DVDs were called "Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu N", where N was a number from 1 to 7.
Now, seeing as new episodes are trying to fill up the gaps in Haruhi timeline, DVD 1 of new series is called "4: Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody" because it goes in between of original DVD #4 episodes and everything else is called 5.xxx because they go after DVD#5 (Lone Island Syndrome 1-2) and DVD#6 (Live Alive and Day of the Saggitarius).
Oh. That could be right. Maybe some more opinions could help to confirm if more people have the same POV or think this could be correct. Maybe you could tell Artefact about this, he's the one who posted the news. He might correct his/her original post to add this, if that's possible. Oh well :)
