Fans who have acquired the first volume of K-ON! in Blu-ray form have been quick to comment on just how ravishing the visuals are.

You can clearly see the difference even in the thumbnails. The one with Mio looks like it came from a pinup poster or something rather than a screenshot.
Wow, that looks really nice.
Definitely a difference.
Dang these are to small for me to use as wallpapers D:
Here´s to hoping that the bluerays get released outside Japan.
me 2 but not freaking 2 episode each volume.
for the early release 4 epsiode each volume and for the next year a full season box.
I can see that the those blobs called hands in the animation haven't changed, or even been redrawn. I'm perplexed and confounded by the fact that it was an animation quirk they added on purpose...
My max rez is 1920*1080.
Sadly, I got enough of K-ON after 3 eps.
you guys must be crazy
example the price on play-asia.com
for Blue ray version = 60 EUR x 7 vol. = 420 EUR i know there are some goodies with the limited edition but is that not to much for 4 h 30 min video ???
That is what anime costs in Japan. The majority of anime revenues usually come from DVD sales, so these prices are the only reason you see any anime at all.
i do want to buy for it like whole season for 40 EUR for the Blu Ray version. Not this ripoff price the whole series can put on one duel layer Blu Ray
if you look carefully, there can see the improvements throughout the 8 pictures, clearer pictures you can see it being refined very well, including the brick arch, you can see mio's face a lot whiter than usual normal skin tone and the picture in general is a lot more clear than before
slightly different?!?!
are you guys serious?! the difference is pretty night and day..... now i dont have elite monitors, but the difference is quite obvious. maybe i should take a small section of both images at full scale and put the side by side...... if u still can't tell the difference i dont know what to say...
here is the side by side small section in full scale.... dont tell me you cant see the difference lol.

I didn't notice until I fully zoomed the pictures. The Blu-ray version is slightly less fudgy and has slightly better skin tones.
not much diff , r u?
My maximum resolution is 1440x900 and that's still not enough for me to play 1080p movies since the lines are still choppy even the action's smooth.
Huh? If you played 1080p on that monitor, you'd still be getting 160x80 more lines compared to 720p. Although probably not worth getting 1080p...
what are you guys talking about theres a huge difference in ever picture
I have to say, that's some nice quality pictures there. Good thing my PC can support 1080p
I thought no one gives a shit about this show anymore.
too bad it's not. The truth hurts eh ?
Not really. Apathy towards shitty shows, you too should try it sometime.
Finally! i can make my azunyan background with that!
what so good about K-on anyway?
Thumbnail.. Meh... Enlarged.. HOLY SHIT!
I can't imagine if Kara no kyoukai was in 1080p glory. I'd cry within my heart.
I can't believe there is even a debate about this, it's pretty clear(lol pun) that the Blu-ray version looks absolutely superior.
Bluray version is much sharper and the colour gradients are smoother.
You can see the better colouring in the shot of Mio and the better sharpness in the shot of the whole band.
Holy hell that's beautiful. It's so clear and...beautiful.
that's not gorgeous, its shit in HD is all
lighting difference, sharper pixel, cleaner image, no watermark. I like blu-ray.
Yeah I like bandwagon once a while. then again, I'm also Asian, too, but who gives a shit.
Woot Thora picked up the BD version!
I wonder how the movement has changed?
For me, the image quality is only slightly better, but not enough to get a Blu-Ray player and then the DVD.
If the motion were improved significantly, then I might reconsider, and I mean maybe...
I just got in the first K-ON!Limited Edition Bluray along with, Eden of the East Bluray:LE 1 and the Code Geas R2:Zero Requiem limited edition boxed set, and while all three have gorgeous video, the K-ON! 1 disc has the best overall PQ, as well as a few neat extras included in the neat purple/pink Bluray case that everything comes in.I've got the 2nd br on order that should arrive around the 19th along with the first BR edition of Fullmetal Alchemist:Brotherhood, which should also hopefully have reference quality PQ if early reviews are to be believed.
That's it, I'm buying the laptop blu-ray drive. I'm not getting a TV anymore.
Can't wait to get the DVDs!!!!!
Actually the colours are a lot more vibrant on the bluray =D i love how they look <3
The 2nd comparison in Blu-Ray makes the anatomic problems of the characters worse...
I was watching the raw earlier and I love the crisp and clearness.
i dont see much diff.....
click on the thumb nails doof
I think it was trolling...
just outa curiosity, whats with the slim blackish lines on the sides of the HD pictures?
Would it make the show better if it was clearer?
beautiful~~~
I finally understand why Blu-ray is better.
Too bad I can't afford it.
Is that the power of Blu-ray ?
Sony is shit as usual.
you fail at...something.
It's a Sony
For those of you who can't tell the difference, let me put how damaged your vision/monitor is into perspective...even the thumbnails are noticeably sharper, even when viewed on a 1024x600 10" monitor...
^ Word!
There are differences, but not THAT much.
