Black Lagoon Season 3 Details Unveiled

Details of the long awaited continuation of pirate oppai anime Black Lagoon have been revealed.
Rather than being another 13 episode TV anime, it appears the season will take the form of an OVA, for release in 2010.
The choice of an OVA is slightly unexpected, but seems to be increasingly common, and seems especially suited to titles with sexual or violent content likely to be problematic where at times TV stations are concerned.
Thus we might think the distinctly toned down TV series might move closer to the manga…

I was hoping a 13 episodes season 3 but OVA is also good enough to satisfy my needs.
If the current arc is anything to go by (if it follows the current arc) we can expect to see roberta again along with nearly every character that has ever appeared in the anime that has not died yet. The arc is huge. I don't know whether this ova is going to be a sort of introduction into the third season or if they really are going to be doing ovas. If they do ovas I don't see them fitting the roberta arc in any less than 6 or 7 episodes (unless they are longer than usual then maybe 5.).
I do believe they still have plans for a third season. For one the current manga arc has not yet finished (to my knowledge...could be wrong) and they are probably trying to gather interest for the third season by releasing a few ovas to get people interested. There is a surprisingly lot of stuff they could be doing. I think the ovas will simply be a little bit of background information on some of the characters or a separate arc prior to the 2nd coming of roberta. Either way this is good news. Don't call is season 3 though because it is not.
There IS a precedent for a 100+ episodes OVA though...
God dammit....

What? The series wasn't toned down at all from what I remember, it was a very faithful adaption.
It was definitely toned down. Do you remember the scene in the anime where Revy killed an entire ship's crew in cold blood?

Hm, the benefit of the TV season format is you're guaranteed a hefty batch of something like 13 or 26 episodes, usually one episode a week. As a fan [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfDLUedUSIc] of this show, I hope the OVA format doesn't end up backfiring and the new "season" ends up like the Hellsing OVA's, giving us 5 episodes over a 3 year period...
but the hellsing eps are around 2 eps long each...

Ehhh, I don't know. The idea of a under barrel attachment of a revolver type grenade launcher on the semi-auto .50 caliber barrett seems a little outrageous to me -_-;;
