Project Diva Breaks 100,000 Sales

Virtual idol Hatsune Miku’s first game, Hatsune Miku: Project Diva, has proven a runaway hit, with sales figures for the first week of its release showing it managed to sell 100,000 copies, only being beaten by Wii casual game “Wii Sports Resort”…

The sales figures are impressive in their own right, but for a character game  focused on Vocaloid antics they can only be taken as a sign of runaway success for the innovatively marketed vocal synthesisers.

Doubtless Miku will be receiving more games in short order, with a full scale home console version an interesting possibility…

The rest of the sales figures for the period; total sales are shown last:

1. Wii Sports Resort 153,000 507,000
2. Hatsune Miku 101,000
3. Boku no Natsu 4 57,000
4. Tomodachi Collection 51,000 221,000
5. Kingdom Hearts 358 14,000 477,000
6. Monster Hunter Portable 2G 12,000 807,000
7. Ken to Mahou to Gakuen Mono 2 12,000 58,000
8. Rorona’s Atelier 11,000 59,000
9. Wii Fit 11,000 3,444,000
10. Sloan to Michael 9,900 149,000

Sadly, even Miku’s shimapan cannot prevail against the pleasures of pretend sports…
