In America they do fight for free speech. At least some of them do. I won't deny that a lot of cowards exist in the United States. But as far as "Ballles" goes considering the UK has banned certain types of pornography and of Japan which is in the process of banning non-real drawn pornography, the United States still serves as the best representation for the freedom of speech and expression.
Recently a man was convicted for obscene material. The only reason nothing was done by this was because this person was indeed a "ballless" American and he pled guilty rather than fighting it. This was no doubt a horrible move by the man's lawyer or himself. Any good lawyer could have easily won the case. It was a product of bad decisions. The guy wasn't actually charged because of obscene material the media just made it seem like that was the reason. The truth behind the incident is that it was obscene material between interstate commerce which is against the law...no doubt a feminist floozy managed to accomplish this without anyone the wiser. So this guy was charged for using the united states postal service as a means of transporting his obscene material. It wasn't the material itself.
As far as the article you posted goes you're not exactly Einstein. First let me just say this; the couple pled guilty. That is as much as a death sentence in the USA. If you plead guilty then obviously people will not even question whether what you did was right or wrong because you yourself have pled guilty. This couple just happened to have the unfortunate circumstance of being caught by the hugely feminist mary beth of pennsylvania. Had they pled not guilty then the trial would have actually went before a jury of their peers as such they did not go before a jury of their fellow people. Most of the Americans are frightened by the idea of letting fellow citizens decide their fate especially since the majority of them are highly moralist. However by going in front of a jury of the people one has a chance regardless of how slim it is to actually be given a verdict of not-guilty by convincing the jury. They pled guilty so all that was left was punishment. It does not help that their pornography firm broke a couple of other laws. Currently it is illegal to transport certain types of material interstate and they got caught. I'm not positive on this but I believe another of the reasons for verdict was they used either bestiality or torture in their video. Regardless of whether they did or not they broke quite a few minor laws that when added up would probably equal about a year's sentence. The media just makes it seem as if it is the obscene material when really it isn't that at all.
Regardless of what the case, all of the articles your read on the obscene laws and all the sentencing for these possession of obscene material is because nearly all the time the people plead guilty preventing them from having a chance of being proven innocent.
A plea of Guilty is a statement of guilt. Don't do it.
