A recent survey has uncovered just what it is Japanese men and women say they want from a partner in terms of both looks and mental characteristics, and what they look at on a date.
The results may make interesting, if unsurprising, reading…
The survey covered 2,032 men and women aged 12-79.
Their sampling methodology is not disclosed, but the survey was commissioned by a hair clinic, which may explain some of the results…
What physical characteristics are most desired in a spouse?
By men:
1. Not fat (47%)
2. Good looking/cute (40%)
3. Has a full head of hair (19%)
4. Not greasy (17%)
5. Slender (8%)
By women:
1. Not fat (46%)
2. Not greasy (39%)
3. Not balding (36%)
4. Good looking/cute (19%)
5. Tall (19%)
It seems fat, greasy and bald men are the least desired by women, which may leave certain demographics in a quandary…
What mental characteristics are most desired in a spouse?
By men:
1. Kindness (57%)
2. Fidelity (45%)
3. Similar values (36%)
4. Seriousness (26%)
5. Fond of children (23%)
By women:

The relative importance of physical and mental characteristics is not dealt with, though it is not hard to guess what tendencies such results might display.

Character is on tops for me whither looking for a partner or just a friend. There just aren't enough people with character these days. Few people have that something that sets them appart from others. Most of the girls I've met are all just crazy cute-freaks and MTV cult members.

Well they start thinking about it early.
I don't know why it's so hard for people to beleive that young teens feel like going out with each other. Many may not choose to, but most are at least starting to get interested in the opposite sex.
It's not that we don't believe that teens want to date, it's more that we don't take teens seriously when it comes to dating because most teens only want to date someone hot. Adults on the other hand take other things into consideration when it comes to choosing a partner.
I like how "not fat" won over "slender". Nearly fat is better than slender. Slender is overrated, like fashion models and super models.

I'm surprised "can work" isn't higher. I thought marrying a man without money in Japan was considered "unthinkable" by the majority of Japanese women? Inconsistent studies?
Thanks to girl power, women now are graduating from college at a higher rate than men and making more money. In the future, we'll see women increasingly shun provider males for the guy that makes their heart race. (players, criminals, bullies etc...)

The meaning of fidelity has changed over the years. Nowadays, it means for a married person to not sleep with another man or woman who is not their husband or wife.
Fidelity is a word that can also be used with dating.

Commonly girls doesnt care if youre ugly, bald, greasy or whatever.. what is important is that you have a car and nice fancy clothes and lot and lots of money.

I think it's a multiple-answer survey, in which a respondent can choose more than one answer...
I interpreted the word 'most' in 'what _____ is most desired' to be choose one over the others, instead of multi answer. Still, the physical characteristic part not having a single thing over 50% means that more men don't care about what's listed than do.
I think its because the survey does not limit them to one characteristic as a choice. Its obvious that they were asked multiple answers for one question.

Washing your face too often / too harshly will make your face oilier. The human body is extremely good at adapting, that includes compensating for the skin getting even more dried out. Moisturizing frequently and just gently wiping excess oil off helps a great deal more than stripping as much of the oil of as often as possible.
At work, I take a paper towel, right, and wet half of it, right, and wipe it all over my face, first with the wet half, then with the dry half, right? Helps me feel less like shit and also helps the old pimples. Seriously. MAKE HIM DO IT, IT IS SO EASY AND HE WILL BE HAPPIER, WHO THE FUCK CARES ABOUT YOU, YOU JUDGMENTAL BITCH... sorry, i didn't mean that. i'm just very self-conscious about my greasy face and i hate people who fault people for their genetic makeup.
