I'm finding this new trend in manga and anime pretty interesting. It looks like there is a growing population of mangaka that want to get as close to the line that separates ecchi from hentai as they can. Personally I find it hotter than hentai in a lot of ways. I too want to see how the lines are tested.

Pedophiles, like most sexual predators, tend to have a very specific "type" that they prefer (age, physical appearance, and sex). The majority of cases involving Catholic priests are accusations of molesting young boys, not girls.
The two names you specifically mentioned were incidents involving non-Catholics soliciting (adult) prostitutes, Swaggart-female, Haggard-male (for drugs). Both men were subsequently publicly admonished by their respective Christian sects for the acts.
