South Africa has the disgraceful distinction of being the nation with the highest rates of indecent assault in the world, but a recent survey only serves to compound this: 27% of men asked freely admitted violating women or girls.
Of those who admitted to violating women or girls, 7.7% said they had violated “11 or more” people, and more than half had committed r**e more than once.
Additionally, 10% of men questioned said they had been violated by other men.
The anonymous survey, conducted by the nation’s Medical Research Council, used a random sample of 1,738 men, of various races, in two (of nine in total) provinces.
