Well, considering they're (K-On! cast and Vocaloids) from the same vein of entertainment (music) I don't see how they aren't relevant to each other - regardless of your obvious distaste towards moe-blob anime.
Likely distaste for the sake of distate, really.
But either way, it's personal opinion, and if yours was the only one that mattered, I don't think Artefact, or any of the other authors here would be doing what they do.
As for everyone forgetting K-On! next year? I doubt they will. It'll die down, just like everything else, of course. But there's always going to be fans making fanart, and fanfiction, and so on, and so forth...

If I feel K-on! is not on the same level as vocaloid then as long as Artefact doesn't ban me from commenting I have the freedom to comment about it. People should deal with the fact the comments can be either supporting or not supportive at nature. I'm not a troll so deal with it.

It's kinda scary how all of their hair lengths/styles matches the individual vocaloid they are cosplaying... Mio with long hair (so can be tied up like Gakupo's), Ritsu's hair is the right length for Meiko's, short haired Nodoka matches Kaito's hair, and the Hirasawa sisters are siblings (and they look alot alike, too), and their hair is perfect for the Kagamine twins. And then, there's Mugi with her long hair which matches Luka's, and then there's the twin-tailed Azusa which is perfect for Miku (though may be a little short...).
