Black Wii & Classic Controller: Nintendo Rips Off PS2

black-wii.jpg

sony-ps2.jpg

Nintendo has delighted its fans by finally offering the Wii in the same colour as the dark of night and the raven’s wing, but between it and the “Classic Controller Pro”, certain similarities to Sony’s PS2 are noticeable:

The “kuro” Wii gets its release in August.

Unkind observers might even jibe that the similarities hardly end with the casing, for the Wii has never impressed with its power… Of course, this flattering imitation evidently works both ways.

Nothings original nowadays. Besides, didn't Sony just release a motion controller of some sort?

yeah something like that. Never mind the fact that the playstation controller was a rip off of the SNES controller, and the Analog sticks were a ripoff of the N64. Minor details of course lol

Yeah Dude this site is in favor of Sony. Its FACT now. Sony beat the Nintendo 3 weeks out of 120 weeks and Sony is Unstoppable Sony is back at the bottom now and no one says anything.? The PS2's Controller is a rip off of the SNES and the N64 controller and yet those Details was left out. At E3 Sony Copy's Nintendo with there motion controller and yet nothing was said. Sony has Failed this generation the haf to copy people and Microsoft has taken there exclusives stop trying to save Sony They suck and its to late for them to catch up! Good Day Sir.

P.S I watch E3 on TV and Sony's conference put me to sleep.

It's not just a rip-off of the Snes controller, Nintendo actually designed a pad identical to the Playstation one back when Nintendo and Sony were developing a console together. Was a CD add on to the Snes I think!

Artefact's calling the classic controller a rip off of the Dual Shock

    EL OH EL

Let's start calling the PS1 pad a rip off of the SNES pad then.

PCfags are worse than all console fanboys altogether. They think they're superior than all others. The worst part is they just play FPSes, MMOs and RTSes with their high and almighty VGAs, processors, etc. Good luck playing Disgaea 3 on your PC.

Artefact, this was your biggest mistake ever. Tease Xbox360 players, at least they have some decency and some good hardcore games, and some are capable of reasoning. Nintendo fanboys are the scourge of Earth. They will spam illogical arguments infinitely when someone says something which could be interpreted as offensive to Nintendo.

You know the Nintendo Wii was originally Black in the first place back when it was known as Nintendo Revolution. As for the Classic Controller, it is closer to a Nintendo GameCube Controller fused with the Classic Controller than it is a Dual Shock...

WTF are you guys talking about? It's clearly coincidence that the button layout looks similar. I mean it's pretty standard. lol. And how the hell is it suppose to be a ripoff? Nintendo was first with analog stick and shoulder buttons... And the new classic controller is just and upgrade with handles and additional shoulder buttons.

And doesn't the classic controller resemble the SNES controller to you guys? Well, it's suppose to...

I don't know how Artefact ended up comparing the both. Just stop being a stupid sony fanboy and admit the black Wii looks hawt.

To even imply that Nintendo ripped off Sony here is just asinine. All they did was make it black. Nintendo's been releasing multiple color options with their systems since the freaking Gameboy. And the Playstation controller was a blatant rip off of the SNES controller to begin with.

I really don't think that the PS2 has the monopoly on the color "black."

And the controller is just standard fare for a game controller these days. There aren't many other ways to design a controller and maintain functionality across the available software (at least if you want it to sell).

If most of the gamers weren't so stupid to fall into the category of typical brainless fanboys of whichever company and/or console, they would read this and would think something alonge the lines of: "I hope that they did it right." or even "Does the Wii have any games that use all of those buttons or will it ever have them?". It doesn't matter if they used the same desing for a controller that another company has used or if it was even theirs from the beginning. The only thing that matters is that if it will be useful and if they make good games, regardless of which company it is.

Actually it was the SNES controller that was modified to make the PS controller. A demonstration of Sony's innovation no?

This was one of the colors of the Wii that they showed back when, what, it was the Revolution?

It fucking took them long enough to release some alternate colors. I would've totally bought a navy blue Wii if they hadn't lollygagged so much on it.

The resemblence is uncanny, but to be fair, every contemporary console gamepad can trace its lineage back to the original NES controller. All Sony gamepads are a direct descendant of the SNES controller, and the Xbox gamepad is the result of highly convergent design, with the only major difference between it and the Dual Shock being the reversal of the D-pad and left stick positions.

Remember, every feature you see on a gamepad today was either invented or first utilized successfully by Nintendo.
