Episode 9 of Natsu no Arashi featured a literal revolving door of cameos during an elongated café scene, including characters from K-On!, Idol Master, Saki, Hinako, and more.
The inserted characters have all been rendered in Natsu no Arashi’s rather minimalistic style, but they should all remain readily recognizable:
Idol Master girls.
K-On!’s quartet.
Hinako, from the recent Training With Hinako Fitness / Ero-Anime
Haru-chan, seated, a mascot character of sorts used in NHK’s televised weather forecasts (her name translates as Spring).
Hidamari Sketch.
Maria Holic, which also had a bevy of cameos in its finale.
Saki’s girls, albeit camoflauged with subdued hair colors.
Most of the cameos were quite brief, and likely invisible to any commoners that might have tuned in (save for Haru-chan), so the creators of the show seem most aware of their show’s target audience.

Ndeed ~ a bevy of cameos do occur in this show...and they are increasing!
Since everyone started to say how Bad this show is... and so being bitten by the curiosity bug, I started watching it and haven't stopped since.
The show reminds me of several into one actually... Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei ~ to name one...(plus) many that are too numerous to mention.
The shadowed outlines used for the opening, indicating nudity, but never seen...
The reference to the female hiding her female side as she dresses as a man.
The travelling through time portals... and even the current body/soul/character exchanges that are occurring.
~ and even more so, because of all the cameos that are becoming more and more abundant as each Ep is being shown...
Because of this, I am closely watching all of the backgrounds, pictures, even mags, and labels, DAMN! ...taking note of people milling about, because I am curious as to "who" will be popping-up next..
Do, I consider this a rip off... it depends in your POV, for me, all I do know.... is that this little show, manages to catch my attention.

there was amuro ray and char aznable, with switched hair colors in one of the eps too, the one with maid cosplay afair ;) made me lol seeing them hit on a rori

Cameos, just a cheap publicity method to get audience....PATHETIC!!!!!
Cameos like these are just small shout outs. If they put a lot of emphasis on the cameo character THEN it would be a cheap publicity method.
How is it pathetic, i see it as a smart marketing ploy to advertise their own show, and others without breaking copy right laws

I'm amused by this, but it's not enough to get me to watch it -- though it does interest me; if the dudes working on these shows as it seems like the same things I like, they're probably into creating an anime I'd like.
THAT SAID, I see it more as a way to reference cool stuff they like. :3

In the picture with K-On! girls, the bunny is from Pani Poni Dash and the one with Saki features the clock in Maria Holic that Kanako uses. Does anyone know what was referenced for Hidamari Sketch and Idolmaster?
It's really a great show. Random and eccentric, heck, what Shaft show isn't?

1st - was it melon/apple??? i have no idea what it refer to
2nd - Bunny from Pani Poni Dash
3rd - Looked like naked Yoshika (Strike Wtiches) with pantsu on her head
4th - The grinning lion clock (now i cant remember from which anime this clock come from but i remember saw it before, anyone have idea??)
I'm almost certain the first one is Hokori-chan from Churuya-san.
The 3rd one is Nowano/Nonowa, it has little pink rainbows on the side of the head.
