Cosplay is one element of Japan’s otaku culture that has spread precipitously through most corners of the world, with most anime related conventions in the last 15 years or so sporting flocks of cosplaying attendees, many of which have near perfected the art, although countless photos of cosplay fail are still in abundance.
If you have ever wondered what some native Japanese otaku make of those photos, here we have some pictures of less than successful cosplay attempts, along with “expert” commentary by a Japanese blogger:
“Umu…this is a guy I just can’t bare to look at…”
“Nagato, Haruhi and Mikuru Asahina, right? Am I wrong?”
“In Japan we call things like you, ‘boneless hams’.”
“YES!! YOU ARE BADMAN!!”
“Study more! Review Japan’s examples a bit more!
If possible, do it like this! (example below)”
“If you don’t have the energy to even try just don’t do it.”
“No matter which way you look at it, this has got to be the villain.”
For more examples of cosplay gone awry, the Finnish Failplay Gallery may be of interest, or of course there are the Cosplay Elite and Cosplay Elect galleries for examples of cosplay done right.
Of course, Japan is still indisputably the birthplace of and probable leader in bad and deranged cosplay…
Via Byoukan Sunday.
lol I wouldn’t take a lot of these too seriously. They seem so funny.
GIGA PUNCH FACE SO HARD IT WILL BREAK DIMENSIONS… dammit
…….are they delusional……are just don’t care?
wtf, those people have no shame!!
OK, CAPTAIN OBVIOUS ON:
PEOPLE DO COSPLAYS LIKE THAT FOR LULZ, FFS.
IT’S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE ACCURATE DESCRIPTION, MORE LIKE EXTREME PARODY.
I mean, big guy cosplayng as little, cute kawaii character, you would really think that’s enough of a giveaway?
Also, people who willingly put themselves in costumes like that are usually really fun to be around.
So yeah, jap who wrote this = EXTREMELY DUMB JAP.
