Anime is in vogue, literally, for the Japanese edition of glossy fashion rag Vogue, Vogue Nippon, is covering manga and anime of interest to “fashionistas”.
“Super-sexy and ultra-cool manga yield super-style, enjoyed the world over!” gushes the cover. This apparently includes PreCure, Evangelion, Dejiko and Sekirei, all renowned for their style…
The rag goes on to to explain some of the fashions featured in anime which impress it, though megane, nekomimi and sukumizu are inexplicably omitted in favour of a variety of bursting bodices and tight garments. Clearly tastes differ…

3D using 2D for fashion advice? Isn't this sort of like cosplay?
Beautiful is beautiful, no arguing there
No Araki? Fail.
YES. I'm glad someone said that. I'd love to see a fashion show with accurate Jojo costumes.
Hmm a womens magazine has never looked so appealing
"Is much better with blushing lolies right nee-san?"(wink)
Precure is high fashion! Yes. I fully agree Yumehara is original.
I would be really happy if Maid Style outfits became the craze of 2009. Can you imagine it? If you can, open your window and watch something wonderful. If not... well... guess you could use a few levels in delusion.
I chortled.
Yay and all for 2D on the inside of the magazine... but what's up with the "prize" they chose for the front cover?
Vogue + Anime = IT DOESN'T COMPUTE ><

Vogue's out of it's mind...
Evangelion is considered fashionable? Guess we'll be seein more plug suits around.
No one who reads this mag will care about the anime part.
I buy Vogue all the time, just not the Japanese version.

I certainly won't complain about Tsukiumi being featured in a fashion magazine.
I lol'd big time with a feeling of disgust in my mouth.
I pretty much did the same and added some WTF on the side.
LOL.
Err..... ok. Evangelion is very fashionable....................
It is. With it's Unit-01 watch and sneakers, underwear and a Nerv phone.
Nor will I about Dejiko, although I'm not sure I'd consider maid costumes that fashionable...
Dejiko is high fashion? I never knew....
lold
Waiting for "Bishōnen guide for dummies" in Playboy.
DO WANT
this is so wrong.
I don't think so. I *like* seeing women (2D or 3D) in "bursting bodices and tight garments". And women in nekomimi, magane, and sukumizu mode/outfits can be (but aren't always) cute and visually pleasing.
Seems me and Vogue have something in common. I'm guessing they went with appealing the masses who aren't into anime as most of them like me like women with big bust and tight clothes as oppose to otaku fashion trend. One thing Vogue has in common with otakus is they tend to focus on models with flat chest...
working in Japan will end up loving 2 or more animes... doesn't matter what job...
Such bad choices... whoever that wrote that article is clearly not very well versed in anime. There are plenty of anime that are more fashion focussed and have better sense of style...
Like Paradise Kiss, that one is great.
Definitely Paradise Kiss ^^
Nana, Nabari no Ou, Death Note, Nodame Cantabile, xxxHOLIC, Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge, Hatsukoi Limited, Kuroshitsuji, Michiko to Hatchin, etc. Any of those would be a better choice...
I have read the manga but not the anime...
"What about Jojo's Bizarre Adventures?"
CLAMP was featured in the magazine too. A CLAMP comm I watch on LJ talked about a shirt they designed for it.
http://community.livejournal.com/clamp_now/489449.html .
well, its stranger that adds a article of anime in a magazine fashion
Why can't i see any Gankutsou and D'Eon? Also, if you're gonna talk about fashion in anime, isn't Paradise Kiss a given?
This is mainstream culture we're talking about, either intentionally or out of sheer stupidity, they always overlook the good stuff.
Next we'll see shounen anime magazines with real pictures of people getting hit in the face on the front.
That would be god damn hilarious, I want to see that...
Friggin ugly girl at the cover, btw.
And I don't care about what you girls say when people say things like this (i.e. "but we girls find them very beautiful").
I know, right? I hate that popular fashion look. It figures that a lot of the big male fashion designers are gay; they sure don't know what really makes a woman attractive.
Should have had designs by Kubo. Each chapter cover of Bleach is like a fashion show.
Manga and animes? In a Japanese magazine? That's unpossible?!
*facepalm*
Not surprising. Anime characters, it seems, are very much part of popular culture in Japan. They even have Pikachu painted on their planes.
WHY THE F*CK IS STRIKE WITCHES NOT IN THIS MAGAZINE!?!?
Because sadly this would be awful. Look out of your window for 2 minutes and imagine every woman in her pants. If you still want Strike Witches in this magazine... tell me where this godly land of Rori is stationed and I'll come by bike even if it's 300km far.
>bike even if it's 300km far.
>300km
I see what you did there.
well of course only the PRETTY girls should dress like that, duh.
Please tell me this is shopped.
