A five-year-old girl has been discovered to have spent her entire life kept amongst cats and dogs, being so totally neglected by her parents that she had adopted the same behavior as the animals.
It is alleged that her parents have ignored her for all of her life, simply treating her as another one of the pets of the household.
The door leading into the filthy apartment where she was discovered had a sign reading “Warning: She Bites”, though it is hopefully presumed this was intended more for the dogs kept at the home.
When she was discovered, the feral girl, or “Mowgli” as the media desperately dubs her, was found barking and hissing like the other animals in her parents’ run-down apartment in the outskirts of the city of Chita, in Siberia.
The girl has been placed into care.
“Everything is fine. Other medical tests will be carried out but she is in good health,” said the director of the rehabilitation center. “The one problem is that at five years old she doesn’t speak. We don’t know why.”
Possibly not having been taught to might have something to do with this. She is however said to be able to understand Russian.
She is said to be adapting to human interaction, though she tends to make animal noises from time to time. She has knowledge of preparing a pan on a hot stove burner, as one of the few survival skills she possibly acquired.
If served food, the feral girl will reportedly lap it off the plate like any other animal, forgoing utensils altogether.
Neighbors have said they never knew the family had a daughter, though they were aware of the many dogs.
The parents of the girl typically only left their flat in the early morning or late at night as a way of likely avoiding contact with others.
The father is currently in police custody as an investigation of child abuse commences.
It seems the girl has however been reached before it became too late, as she is said to be adapting rapidly to human surroundings: “She only behaves like a cat or dog from time to time. She can show how to put a pan on a stove and turn on the gas. You shouldn’t call her ‘Mowgli’,” though the mass media naturally ignores this and calls her Mowgli anyway.

Most feral child cases I've read about didn't even have parents. They made it just fine among wolf packs, squirrels (not joking), and even bears. The squirrel-mimicking child had grown enormous thumb muscles and slept in and frequently climbed trees like the squirrels she had learned to mirror.

I think people misunderstand how quickly children learn, once she got into her mid teens it would be very difficult to fix what they did to her, but it's just awful.
If there was something to make me decide to want a child one day, this would definately be it. I don't see why people need to keep having babies when there is so many children like this or worse(and less of course) it just breaks my heart seeing this.
Usually the OP always turns me on but this one just makes me feel even worse.

Nice, now i've got a new subject to study. There also shouldn't be any huge obstacles for her if she doesn't have any mental illnesses like autism. Most of the other feral children cases i've encountered almost always had some sort of mental illness involved which impedes the progress of adaptation. Of course, abuse is a factor but it is possible for her to become like that solely through neglect.
