The mangaka of “Peach de Lesson” here seems to have made some rather liberal use of a photographic reference, to put it politely, though it does not seemed to have helped too much.
Normally results are better, but in this case ambition seems to have got the better of skill…
And it pisses me off when non-artists make posts bitching about the use of reference and call it plagiarism.
Unless you blatantly trace over an image, or you use another persons art, then it isn't plagiarism.
Graphic designers make vector art by tracing over the colors in reference images to make something photo-realistic but still not a photo, that is far worse than someone making a drawing off of it. If you're going to bitch about an artist using a photo so they have a pose and anatomy in order to make it look correct, then draw something with no reference, post it here, and let us laugh at you.
C'mon, this is massively photo-reffed, way over the top. It looks to me like the only reason it isn't more like the original photo is because the artist is too shitty to even be able to do a decent tracing job.
In America it would be actionable, and probably in Japan, too. The creator of The Silent Service had to pay up quite a bit of dough for his overuse of photoref and the case set a precedent over there.
And, sorry to say, plenty of artists have enough skill that they can indeed draw figures and scenes right out of their own heads, without needing to, say, build a space colony, photograph it, and copy that.
But I like the thicker legs and tighter sukumizu in the 2D one. Thicker legs mean bigger ass. :3 And I don't think legs like that are so unrealistic, it's just part of the body type... perfect for the hourglass figure.
No, everyone's complaining that they made the legs larger than a normal human's (which is pretty impressive considering the diameter of the average thigh), and the fat folds under her swimsuit.
Why do fans get angry at the player in a sport when that player is doing bad? Right, because they want to see the person do better. Should the fans be playing that sport in order for them to have a right to critique that player? NO, because sports are played to entertain the fans.
You're bitching about people critiquing someone's (poor rendition) of a 3D reference. Just who the fuck do you think the artist drew that for? Obviously not for "struggling freelancers" like you. He drew that to sell it to people who probably aren't all that capable of artistry, but will most likely will want something to fap to. And from the general consensus of the comments here, he wouldn't be able to sell his drawing because of the reasons people stated in the comments for this article, i.e. they added too much "fat" to the 2D rendition of the 3D reference.
And even if we didn't have a 3D reference to compare it against, I'm pretty sure a good number of us wouldn't want to buy something like the 2D rendition because of the same reasons.
Come on man, don't get butthurt over people critiquing a PUBLICALLY POSTED PICTURE. The artist obviously has a fetish for women with extra meat to their bones, but he will probably have to address that fetish if he wants to sell his art to those who want slightly slimmer women in their art.
if you dont do things like this then your drawing wont get an better. seriously, do you some people think that artist just suddenly become good at anatomy and be able to draw whatever the hell pose and angle they want?
doing this is not plagarism, if it was then every artist would be guilty of it. it is called using a reference, and even the best artists in the world still uses them from time to time.
The 2d looks much better than the 3d but weeaboo haet buxom beauties thus the collicky shitfits and whining. The artist obviously was purposefully going for a more curvaceous character according to a commonly used style. Go back to your lolis pedoscum.
It's not all too uncommon for artists [manga and even painters alike] to use models or real life references. I don't think it's utter plagiarism. It's not entirely different from going to a park and drawing how the place looks at the moment you're there or say, from getting a flash of insight for a plot for a manga while strolling the park and observing people.
The only difference is that the mangaka took this from a photo which is probably copyrighted. The author should've at least asked permission or informed the original photographer or model though that is on the ethical side of it. I don't think there's any illegality to his act though.
I agree with you on this one. Photo references are used very often by artists. And, unless you are fortunate to have your own model, it's one of the very few ways to find out how something looks at a certain angle.
You fool, don't you see, using IRL models is as bad! Because clearly artists aren't allowed to use external references for anything. Technically, they should all get their eyes poked out so that they'll never ever be able to cheat.
a straight trace... plagerism... an exact replica of a scene from another series/movie... plagerism... drawing from referances.. just fine, lots of fan art is that way, even traced... but they don't push it out as there own stuff... that would be plagerism...
A lot of artists have been doing that. There are even some present in popular anime like Naruto who copied or "paid homage" to Cowboy Bebop and Jackie Chan respectively.
Neither of them appeal to me in this case = ="... the 2D art-style is... not really up to par (well, to me it isn't... I don't like fat bulging from places), and something about the 3D's face turns me off.
I think a lot of people voting just chose the funnier option. I did. I mean, yeah it's obvious, obviously. I'm just thinking "why is this even a question? lo1". Though I don't find it so wrong. It's an industry norm and not exactly plagiarism. Some artists keep clippings of models from ads and crap even. It's easy photographs for reference. If it was 2D copying 2D though, a mangaka copying another mangaka, I'd feel it was wrong for sure.
Is it really wrong to use a photo for reference when drawing?
No, it is actually better to use reference.
And it pisses me off when non-artists make posts bitching about the use of reference and call it plagiarism.

This is a really common pose, idol wise. I'm chalking it up to coincidence.
Many other similar to this one poses are quite oftenly found in Mizugi Fetish H manga all about...
Woah!! What's with the hippo-hips on the 2-D version?!
In this case, I'd say it's not "mangaka", but instead, "manga, (desu) ka?"
Wicked plagiarism? How about wicked awesome plagiarism!
Great Job!
Who cares if she's a chub? I for one love chubby women.
I think anon is better because they'll never see a woman naked in reality in front of them, except if they walk in on their mom in the shower.
Its a Cowinkydink, plus the 2D version looks a bit pudgy :P
3D = Major Win!
"Can I help you out of the pool?" *winks*
It's (badly) referenced. Just by looking and I can it's not line-for-line.
3D = 2D :/
3d wins this round
in this case i like better the real one
I really think they're both hot, but If I had to choose then 3D. Lower cut, more cleavage, better expression, and more realistic :P
But I like the thicker legs and tighter sukumizu in the 2D one. Thicker legs mean bigger ass. :3 And I don't think legs like that are so unrealistic, it's just part of the body type... perfect for the hourglass figure.

see, different body types (not posting that for any reason more than that)
I like the 3d better than the 2d..
Whoaw that's a first !!!
Geez... Everyone's freaking out that the 2D illustration isn't a skinny rail.
No, everyone's complaining that they made the legs larger than a normal human's (which is pretty impressive considering the diameter of the average thigh), and the fat folds under her swimsuit.
Oh, so in other words, everyone here is a top-notch artist themselves and their own bodies contain not one single ounce of fat. =P
M I N N:

*eats leek*
Lol everyone here prolly cant even get near that drawing. i see lot of complaining from people who prolly dont even draw.
Actually we just want normal women. And that is not extra meat in her bones that's over 9000!! meat in her bones.
I hope everyone here could trace better than that. Not commenting on fat girls in sukumizu.
Legs, study:

Sad is the day when a 2D trace fails to improve on its 3D pig disgusting original.
here's a little secret we artists have.
if you dont do things like this then your drawing wont get an better. seriously, do you some people think that artist just suddenly become good at anatomy and be able to draw whatever the hell pose and angle they want?

So Agree with you!
every artist use a reference. so its not a big deal for me
2d worse than 3d? Freak out...
close poll!
The 2d looks much better than the 3d but weeaboo haet buxom beauties thus the collicky shitfits and whining. The artist obviously was purposefully going for a more curvaceous character according to a commonly used style. Go back to your lolis pedoscum.
You have to be fucking stupid to call that plagiarism.
The face of the 2D is kinda... meh.

The 3d one looks a lot better!!
If we place the 2D's face on 3D's body that would be great!!!
That was exactly my first thought!
In this one 2D < 3D xD
Neither of them appeal to me in this case = ="... the 2D art-style is... not really up to par (well, to me it isn't... I don't like fat bulging from places), and something about the 3D's face turns me off.
yea the boobs line is better, 2D doesn't hav :p
50/50 when I voted, first time that happened
I think a lot of people voting just chose the funnier option. I did. I mean, yeah it's obvious, obviously. I'm just thinking "why is this even a question? lo1". Though I don't find it so wrong. 48/52 now. Intresting anyways, an obvious trace, but there are so many people thinking it's just a coincidence. Welcome to the N.H.K.?
Also agreed with OP, the 3D (extraordinarily) is way better than the 2D version.
mmmm this is plagiarism
HOLY SHIT THE FAT FOLDS! 2D DISGUSTING PIG?
YER DOIN IT RONG.
The sukumizu is just a hell of a lot tighter in the 2D one!
I'm not a chooser, I love them both :)
I agree -___- the 2D is much chubbier....
And this is bad - why, exactly? =P
Because we prefer a woman, not a cow.
I agree.
