For some inexplicable reason, mixing together K-ON!’s “Don’t Say ‘Lazy'”, ” and a traditional Japanese folk song has proven hugely popular, nearly having reached two hundred thousand views, and is actually quite good.
You should view it below:
The original folk song:
The “So-ran Bushi” (ソーラン節) is a famous traditional folk song originating in Hokkaido, created by fisherman and concerned with a group of trying to heave forth a great catch of herring from the ocean deep. You can read more about it here.
Just what this has to do with K-ON! is anyone’s guess…

While Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (also called Peter) and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea because they were fishermen. He said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of of men!" So at once they left their nets and followed him.
Is that it?
What vs? I dont see comparition
Thank you for something both entertaining and educational.
A few years ago on youtube I stumbled across a performance by the "Soran Happies" doing some sort of bizarre para-para dance. Like much that is Japanese I liked it but was puzzled by it.
Now, with this revelation of the "So-ran Bushi" it finally has some context.
What????THE..
i somehow feel urge to fish herring....
I want sing please I need help
All the "AAAAAA" comments during that part of the song made it real funny...
HIGH ! HIGH ! HIGH ! HIGH ! HIGH ! HIGH ! HIGH ! HIGH ! XD
HOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOT
Simple, yet enough. Very creative.
Just shows you don't need to spend months on something like Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade MAD [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAaZL2qiSB4&feature=channel_page] to make it onto the Nico Nico Charts.
im seeing a taiko drum master chart in my head
0:40 viva el peru + 0:41 mio = viva el peru, mio... is Spanish!!!
I sang and danced to this with some elementary school kids while in Japan.
That registers as the best moment of my life, period. So-ran Bushi is the best damn song ever.
sounds more like a power rangers intro to me...
Western comment: leave K-On! alone. Is nice the way it is!
NO RELATION AT ALL...
whoever made this should be stamped... [PHAIL!]
Surprisingly good! I've got to thank my univ for using a Jap backbone (no blocks on NicoNico!) :P
I see no relation either.
Except that it fits the scenes a bit, and it's a speeded up version of the folksong.
Hmm, I prefer:

Figured there'd be a post about it by now actually...
I can't stop listening ( ゚ ∀ ゚)/
[ ソ-ラン!]て 何??
Cat in blender.
Agreed. Like a bladeless blender, this does not mix well.
Fail.
This fails
Haruhi is win!
I'd like an mp3 from that 2nd vid..
Can't find it in Japanese iTunes. There's some other nice one though with nyaa~
Nice, I guess...
You're right.
I don't see any relation with K-On and So-Ran Bushi.
for those who don't get it:
their arm movement is similar to the standard nanchuu so-ran dance routine. that's the relation.
indeed...
Relation? I don't think that was the point...
they obviously cant see it cuz the power dedector just broke now
No. It's not.
useless anime + useless song = perfect match lol there u go the secret relationship xD
but the editing of this video is good, better than the anime itself xD
i can notice the perfect synchronization
uhm..no
Still looks pretty nice
Tch novices! Cant you see that both their moeness is OVER NINE THOUSAND?!
LOL!!! This is what you call majic!!! Also great scene from ep.6!!!
That surprisingly kicked ass!
I'd be impressed with an Ikzo mix.
A SORE! A YOISHO!
Weird, but catchy.
Also I love candy corn mouths.
Wait what happened to my icon
That was awesome. Reminds me in particular of mashups where an instrumental song provides the backing to an a capella version of a random rap song (often Fresh Prince, it seems).
ouch. what the hell was that..
It's japan, get used to it. Even outside the realm of otaku, japan stuff is weird.
nice mix tho......
hooooooooo
Verga. spanish rules.
