Pizza Hut Rewrites History in Sengoku Basara

Fans are bemused by the sudden revelation that the heroes of the Sengoku Jidai period were busy munching quality American food in between climactic combat and geisha ogling.

Sengoku Basara would not normally be seen as a vehicle for promoting Pizza Hut, but some marketing genius evidently thought otherwise…

Doubtless next episode the heroes will be riding into battle on their Toyota automobiles and celebrating their victories with sparkling Coca Cola under the golden arches of McDonald’s.

Sengoku Basara appears to be developing in some interesting directions of late.

Everything runs on businesses and market research anyways. Art and intelligent thought doesn't exist anymore. Which is why I'd rather just keep watching ecchi than waste my time with ecchiless stuff while hoping for something good out of it :P hot women and a good fap are more reliable.

see? everything makes sense. So the next time you find something next to you that just appeared out of nowhere, you know what just happened.

Yeah it is wrong. Any company that ruins the enjoyment of anime by bringing in real world stuff should be erased from the world.
And they already did it to Code the ridiculous extreme, where they were eating that damn pizza in every second episode.
Sengoku Basara added to blacklist now...

I can live with seeing whatever advertising it is in anime if it means I can watch non moe stuff. Advertising provides added revenue so the makers can upped the production value, anime that might generate less sales might be made, etc, etc... Advertising gave me Code Geass, Darker than Black, Freedom, Eureka Seven, etc... so I can live with random products showing up if it means I don't have to watch K-On, Lucky Stars, Strike Witches, other moe shit.

    Comment by Anonymous
    11:11 10/05/2009 # ! Neutral (0)

sad that it has to come to that in order for non-moe anime to get off the ground these days :P lol. No surprise, though. This is a society where some "grown" men (some probably clenching dirty, old dakimura), in droves, go to concerts that look like they should be for 10 year old girls, where 10 year old girls basically sing and dance in fancy costumes, and seemingly have the time of their lives.

but if the show really was that good, then even going and putting something like this into it would taint the style of it. Imagine if works of art had small pieces of advertising in a corner of it or something, that's how I feel about it. But if it's just empty entertainment to begin with, like most things are, it's no big deal.

    Comment by Anonymous
    19:57 11/05/2009 # ! Neutral (0)

Well I think anachronism is a big part of the style of Sengoku Basara, and hence there is no tainting to speak of. In fact you can think of the anime as a microcosm of modern Japan, with the very traditional along with the globalised and modern.

ok asides going of topic but answering the question as IIRC the original hamburger was invented in Russia during the cold war as a raw chunk of ground meat until it was re-invented in America and as what we have known today same went for its cousin the salisbury stake when veggies and buns were a rare commodity during WW2, and according to wiki yes its derived from a version of a Hamburg cuisine called Frikkadelle

whoever posted Koreans invented pizza... lol no we didnt..and for that matter Pizza in its widely known commercial form is strictly an American heritage. the boxing, the format, the ingredients and the cooking style are all derived from American culture. A very different style of 'pizza' which is from italien heritage exists in (obviously) italy. it vastly differs in not only ingredients but portion size, eating style, cooking style and is hard to compare with American pizza because of its unique but also tasty (from what ive heard) traits

I also want to say that Artefact is right when naming it an "american food"; in fact, the recipe and the way you cook the american one are a world apart from the italian pizza, not to mention the fact that even in its home there are two kinds of it, the Rome's and the Naple's. The first thin and well cooked, the second taller and kept less time in the oven.

Jesus, i can't find the words.
    the anon who said:
"Actually, pizza was created by the Romans who put cheese, tomatoes, and other vegetables on a flat piece of hard bread."
    is half right.
Half because tomatoes didn't exist, they imported some kind of yellow vegetables, and only later, after mixing seeds and branches, it became what it is now.
Also the roman pizza was not exactly like the one you can have now, they used different ingredients, such as a different floor, obviously.
    It's still safe to say that the actual pizza is an upgrade from the ancient roman one;
If you talk about the "margherita" Pizza, it was first cooked in 1889, named after the Queen Margherita of Savoia. The three colours of tomatoes, mozzarella chees and basil refer to the colours of the italian flag.
