Improbably good looking samurai anime Sengoku Basara earlier attracted attention for the inexplicable differences in the broadcast versions currently airing, but these now pale in comparison to the latest comparison showing off the various versions of the anime to have come to pass…
Never has a single title known so much variety in such similar scenes?

Wtf, how could people vote for BD when it looks so horrible =/
human psychology states that 1st is always best!
haha now i have trouble telling the fakes apart
Blu-ray looks too... Code Geassy. Going with the CBC version.
And what the hell, VHS release? DVD releases are already dying and someone is still releasing in VHS.
Headdesk for everyone who doesn't understand the pic/joke.
.... my head hurts.
Are you idiots?
That's a TOTAL FAKE, bad photoshop work!!
Vhs is Akira...
Hmm CBC or TBS, there isn't too much difference, at least not so much I would give a fuck.
I'm going with CBC
the BD version looks as if he was a sand nigger
the TBS version looks as if he was a gay male vocalist
the CBC version looks as if he uses make-up
the DVD version looks as if he is a badly-drawn Chinese
the VHS version looks as if he is a 12-years-old kid.
i'll choose LD.
This can't be for real.... incredible.
I didn't think anyone did releases on VHS no more.
The problem is.. every1 single one look hideous ;d
Why did they spend the time making different animations?
Only certain scenes look slightly different between the TBS and CBC version. It's not like the whole thing is different.
As to why they did that, probably because they were undecided as to which frames to go with for certain climatic scenes, so chose to send different versions to both stations.
This in turn would lead fans to watch the show on both channels, making the show more successful.
Looking at the description for the DVD release at CD Japan, it doesn't list anything about multiple versions, so we could either end up with something new and different of Production IG deciding on the 'proper' version to be used, which ever they class that as...
As for some of the people not realizing the artcile image is fake; lol!
VHS and LD haven't be used for donkeys years and this show isn't getting a Blu-ray release.
Oh U Artefact~ you made me LOL XDD
lol.TheDvd.
I'm disappointed in how few of us chose DVD out of general contrariness. :/
It always works for that girl in the background of the Kannagi pics.
DVD super fail VHS looks better.. but CBC and BD are the best looking
VHS looks like something Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira) would create LOL
Blu-ray Disk
It's a Sony!
wat? is this real D: dvd wtf!!!!
TBS looks the Best
I give 2nd place to BD
At VHS: KANEDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
watched the cbc one
nice fakes
I am quite impressed how they used actually different styles of highlighting, shading, etc. extremely befitting the medium formats of the animation eras: VHS 80's, laser disc 90's, BD 2k's. Only DVD looks like utter shit, more like low budget late 80's.
In my opinion the TBS version still looks best but I'm also pretty interested in watching the laser disc version.
TBS, but they all look hideous ^^;
What's with people liking the CBC? It looks absolutely terrible. VHS had the best face.
there is no blueray, vhs or laserdisc release.
lol DVD
looks like im gonna have to go and search for all the different versions to be a true fan
Forget about the graphic effect enhancements and look for the graphic itself, as the nose for example. Which one is better drawn?
Like Mike said, VHS looks like an Akira character design.
I'd add, LD looks like Clamp's work.
DVD... failed. Looks like a chinese copy.
BD looks good, but what's with the long nose?
TBS seems to be the original Charadesign.
M.
How do you think about?
http://www.equalitynow.org/english/actions/action_3301_en.html
I saw it elsewhere. You should email me such things as I can no longer read all the comments - thanks all the same.
The answer is always Laserdisc. I love that ancient shitty technology.
Agreed. Optical discs the size of records = AWESOME.
Wow, the DVD looks horrible in that comparison.
They still making VHS in Japan? Interesting.
These differences are ridiculous. Are they hopping people will buy multiple versions to see all the differences (well, I guess someone had to to do the comparison)?
I have to wonder if they are trying to confuse file sharers/fansubbers.
Fortunately, this isn't a title I'm interested in. I'd probably pass on it anyway with all this version stupidity going on.
They still do in Africa.
...they're all shops, genius.
They still do in Aussie but~
Inb4 -
OYAKATASAMA!!
HIJIKATASAMA!!
I almost read that as hijack-sama...
BD looks like Ghost in the Shell movie with Ninja Scroll shadow style
LD looks like G Gundam
VHS looks definitely like Akira
I vote for BD and VHS for the late 80 or early 90-ish look...
Second.
Are these really real?
gotta go with TBS on this one.
It's like the creators decided to pit animation studio against animation studio, to figure out who the best was.
So six different studios made scene variations, knowing people would vote and digest and compare them.
CBC - looks like Eden of the East style, almost Ghibliesque
VHS totally made me think Akira lol.
KANEEEEEEEEEDAA
TETSUOOOOOYAKATASAMA!
@ VHS
FUCK CANNOT UNSEE
And LD look like Escaflowne.
shopped , actually only the cbc and tbs are real
Heh I get the joke for the most part, except the DvD.
