This is the is reference to book 10 of the light novels. The anime series only covers the first 2 books.

The reason all the fans are up in arms about it is beause book 9 ends with:

"to be continued"

This in itself is somewhat annoying, but to then not continue as promised is like a dagger to their hearts.

Initially, I beleive the author was ill, and so a delay is understandable. As to since then? One can only guess.

Personally, I suspect the publishers have tied his hands, not willing to release the series conclusion (as 10 is expected to be) before they milk the Hell out of it

Oh, the more recent delyas is down to negotiations over payment, I believe. The publication company is uming and ahing over the amount they should pay for the story.

Personaly, I believe they should just pay the man. Of course, if I were the author I would long ago have gone to another publisher lol

I believe is a kind of insult to fan from his author. There is limit you know when making things like movie, tv serie, anime, manga, book, etc... in making people wait that long. Thinking : "i'm the author and the fans will wait as long as I want" is unacceptable. I'm really disapointed right now. Sure, everybody will wait, what else could they do? But believing that only the author matter is selfish and irresponsible. In the world of art and media, fans are very valuable, it's them who make you popular or a drop out. You can't just ignore them for 3 years like that. That's my opinion. And whatever reason he's got, it's better be really GOOD ONE!!!

You think that just because you have other stuff to do (aka, life which is pretty good mind you) hardcore fans will like delays? Do you like it when you expect a steak and it's delayed three hours?

But one thing is sure, even if it takes 10 years everybody will lap at it like the last bottle of water in the dessert when it really comes out; that's how sad hardcore fans are.

I wonder how long will it take for the fan t finally give up on it all. i stilll waiting for season 2 of the anime serise to came out and as long as the book cames out and i get to read it i'll wait till the end of time. Now let hope the writer does not die.

Yes, the author is not indebted, but he also can't expect a bunch of willing fans to wait forever. It's give-and-take, and for a long while now the author and license holders have been just taking.

Yeah right, authors aren't indebted to fans, and while it's true that they can't do absolutely anything and expect it to be received as well as if it were timely and accomplished, the fans are the ones who are doing all the taking in the majority of cases, especially with the rise of downloads.

When I think of memorable anime, Haruhi, K-On, or Toradora aren't exactly the first things that come to mind.

Just watch, K-On is going to be fucking exactly like Hidamari Sketch. Incredibly popular when it is airing, every season it happens to air, then no one even bothers thinking about it the moment the season is over.

Do you think Clannad isn't memorable too? Because I can only think of two more memorable anime's than Clannad (Welcome to the NHK & Tenchi Muyo!)... Oh yeah, point is, if Haruhi isn't a memorable anime, what is?

The only thing I will remember Haruhi for is its fucking annoying abused wife fanbase that keeps coming back for more.
