Music Shops Leap onto K-ON! Bandwagon

music-shops-embrace-k-on-guitar-marketing

As we saw, K-ON! fans are currently buying up the guitars featured in the show in a perverse display of consumeristic onanism, and naturally the sales opportunity this present is not lost on instrument sellers either.

Music shops nationwide are rubbing their hands with glee at the K-ON! boom (as well as Fender by the sounds of it), and as you can see here, some are being exceedingly direct in their marketing, positively brazen in fact…

Yui on this Edwards guitar: “I recommend this one!”

There are plenty of cheaper instruments than those featured in show marketed thus, for the otaku on a budget. Not even being of the same make, the effectiveness is questionable, and store employees apparently report not much success with the opportunism…

Can someone rewatch ep 1 of K-on! and watch near the end of the anime. What brand Yui brought? She brought a Epiphone Les Paul Standard, Not a Gibson/ Epiphone Guitar is own by Gibson, just Epiphone is cheaper but have some guitar that are the same style as a Gibson. Why do people still say it a Gibson..arghhhh!

Yui bought the guitar in the second episode, and it easily outprices even higher end Epiphone guitars. It matched the price of a Gibson LP Standard. The headstock also says Gibson.

There is a mistake in the second episode in which the headstock clearly says Fender, though.

You know, once a character from K-ON has sex, something that's almost inevitable (lol yeah right) considering that its a rock band, I wonder what the otaku are going to be doing with those instruments.

It would be a damn shame to see perfectly serviceable instruments go to waste if the work themselves up into a shitstorm and start smashing everything K-ON related.

GIBSONS SUCK BALLS. Seriously their pieces of crap. Most of the japanese "copies" of gibson's guitars exceed them in playability, value and quality. Then again the Gibsons in Japan are usually made by the japanese branch.

Apart from the japanese stuff, US made Gibsons suck. They dont stay in tune, and they just have appaling quality.

If I got one of the instruments from the show I'd definitely play it rather than just put it on display. I've actually been considering it, too. I've been thinking about learning bass guitar for years (I've played tuba and baritone since I was 8), so even though it'd be a cheaper version, and probably right-handed, I'd try and get a bass that looks like Mio's. ^_^ That is, as long as the K-On boom hasn't affected American music store prices as well...

So now otakus can fap all day long with a guitar, a bass, a drum, and a keyboard. I wonder how they're gonna do that. I mean, yea, guitar is okay, but keyboard?

Epiphone is not a Gibson, its a subsidiary company under Gibson.
You can't really call Epiphone a copy of Gibson because of this... You can call the ESP, Ibanez, and even Colt (as seen in the picture) copies.
