Hostess simulation game Dream C Club is set to be a core title for the Xbox 360 in Japan, much as Idol Master became, if the excited reaction and massive pre-ordering is anything to go by. The game occupied Amazon’s number one spot for games for a time, and still has a firm lock on the Xbox 360 charts.
The preview videos, consisting chiefly of gently bouncing oppai, are witness to a frenzy of comments and have immediately sent many to the pages of merchants offering pre-orders:
The game is due for release August 31st.
Even the character designs are not dissimilar from Idol Master.
The only weakness evident seems to be that the setting precludes the use of loli characters, cutting off the vital demographic so essential to the succes of Idolmaster…
Actually, it's by D3 Publisher if you would have paid any attention to the trailers you'd know that. It'll still be region locked though, D3's previous titles have been.
I knew this would happen. So I picked up a J360. Never regreted it since.
Been following dream club news releases since before the webpage even came out. Hope they make it as fun and character-driven as im@s. I still get a special high whenever I hit S Rank for Chihaya...
Just not lolis designed to please the average lolicon who likes his girls to look like they're in kindergarten as opposed to being shorter than average and having little to no bust.
Ami looks super loli-ish still. Looks older then her imas version but definately within the boundaries of middle school. Her bio might say otherwise but you can use your powers of imagination to cover that gap.
Just like all the Chihaya fans insisting that she's still 72A here and just using some state of the art pads.
Im@s sold well because it had a girl to cater to most otaku's tastes and fetishes in some shape or form. It covered all the widely idolized traits that otaku find moe and thus its wide appeal.
No, breasts don't generally sell well. Otherwise Soul Calibur 4 would have sold more than just 100K to 200K in Japan. Underage girls are what sell, which is unfortunate in my point of view.
They love oneechans, shotas, anikis and a variety of other deviant concepts. The list of fetishes in most akiba stores will probably send most conservatives into a coma.
PS. Have you heard the one about the nose hooks...
I only counted 2 or 3 places where you could see the vertex geometry (the older blond's hair buns were pretty much a hexagon at the end of the pipeline, for instance).
Maybe I've not been playing enough next-gen, but to me it looked like a good example of how successfully anime in 3D has been progressing...
Hell, I'm usually a "sprites/2D is always better" guy myself, but with some of the most recent 3D anime styled games, much like these videos exhibit, I'd say it can now stand on almost equal par.
Computer skeletal animation has successfully backfired on this piece. When different persons' movements are this much identical, the whole picture gets ruined.
Skeletal animation is one reason why 3D anime will always look a little off, IMO.
No matter how realistic they ever end up making it, it can't abstract movements and characters shapes like real anime can.
It can't take on "personality" like what sets visually distinct anime like FLCL, Gurren Lagann, Noein, Kaiba, Ghibli stuff, etc. apart from other mainstream entries.
One of the fundamental reasons I think a large segment of the Anime fanbase prefers watching anime over regular tv/movies is because they've learned to appreciate these styles of abstraction.

I never paid much attention to "Key Animation" in 2D anime until I read that article, but I think what they discuss about what it really means to animate, say, Golden Boy swimming across the screen, sheds much light on the nature of why animation/abstraction is such uniquely creative venue.
Will it ever be possible to transfer such human/imperfect "artistic styles" to 3D?
Not with modern anatomically and mathematically correct techniques like skeletal animation, I'd say.
But given time and perhaps some creative use of AI as an integrated component of the graphics pipeline, I'd like to think it will happen.
Are the Oppais too big that they block your view from this poor neglected loli girl? Though, since she's allowed to drink alcohol in the game, i believe she's not underaged.. Meh, who cares about 2D Age!

Being the shortest & smallest, the one with the baby face, along with a perfect combo of narrow shoulders and thin legs, non-existent breast, and a seemingly childish attitude, i don't see why you see Setsu only as a grown up non-pubescent girl with flat chest..
Hope it's not region locked.
It's Bandai Namco, so it'll be region locked. All their games are, regardless of where they're released. Fuckwits.

It does have loli characters though...
Just not lolis designed to please the average lolicon who likes his girls to look like they're in kindergarten as opposed to being shorter than average and having little to no bust.
That's not loli.
That's petanko.
By your logic, someone like say "Kyonko" would be loli.
Ami looks super loli-ish still. Looks older then her imas version but definately within the boundaries of middle school. Her bio might say otherwise but you can use your powers of imagination to cover that gap.

It looks to me like Setsu has more of a straightforward loli design.
I don't think you know what a loli is...
This game is going to be shit though.
Ero game with no lolis = shit.
Is 13 too old for lolihood?!
I'm not sure I understand. How does "Idolmaster with breasts" turn into a well selling game? I'm not seeing any pros here.
to each his own dude. dont be close minded
Idolmaster sold well.
Breasts generally sell well.
If you mix the 2, you'd hope for synergy and that it'll sell better then Idolmaster.
Hard to believe considering the success of im@s, but that's what they mean,
Im@s sold well because it had a girl to cater to most otaku's tastes and fetishes in some shape or form. It covered all the widely idolized traits that otaku find moe and thus its wide appeal.

I hear DOAX2 sold pretty well.
if thats the case Japans got issues. No wonder the birth rate is so low there, ther all a bunch of loli lovers!

it looks kinda funny though. like not to its graphics potential? or maybe ive been on PS3 too much.

NOT yakuza3 btw....
With Oppai?!? How dare they. What were they thinking?!? I demand DFC NAO!!!
if this game had girls who were all dfc I would kill my self three times over!
What is this DFC

They're dancing to the same song. If they follow Im@s tradition, each somg's dance routines are different.

Magical Host Club Mio Kyun!
I love Mio as much as the next guy, but she (and K-ON) get enough articles as it is - no need to infect all the others with K-ONisms.
MOE MOE KYUN~
Holy shit i will never see this rise on my country..
The loli-most characters from im@s will be coming to Dream Club.
The Ami fans for one. The flatchest-maniax 72A chihaya fans as well. Not to mention the tomboy favorite Makoto.
fans of the above im@s girls will come in droves.
If Ami doesn't qualify for a loli, nothing does!
Those are ... nice point cards she has in the opening picture.
Wonder if it'll move millions of points like im@s did. I'm waiting for a sukumizu and buruma one myself....
bwahahaha good thing i have a japanese Xbox 360 ....... pre-order now!!!!!
I have a modify 360,yes I can play any game from US to japan.
I'd like to mod too, but that would void the warranty and so many people always bring up the Red Ring of Death...
Can you get the online stuff with a modded 360? Not being able to access online play and the MSpoint buys would significantly reduce my enjoyment.
Fukkin region lock!
And Namco knows Idolmaster is popular over here, they freaking sell us the IM@S planes for AC6!
Well said. For me its no loli no game...
No wait, saw the characters and I think they do score in my loli meter ^o^
I think Ami looks more loli here then her grade school form back in imas. Not all lolicon like the 12 region...
Aren't the hostess clubs already a sort of simulation?
do want ç_ç
oh, now that i think about it, how is the playability ? can you move and click buttons with just one hand ?
You don't have a pure heart/mind!
This game is not for you!!
I truly can't seem to like idolmasters. So guess it's a thing of rverybodys taste.
Loli > Oppai
why can't people understand simple math. greater than!!

Having a flat chest and being a pubescent girl are two different things...
That Ami clone looks suspiciously pubescent. What age would you estimate her to be?
Being the shortest & smallest, the one with the baby face, along with a perfect combo of narrow shoulders and thin legs, non-existent breast, and a seemingly childish attitude, i don't see why you see Setsu only as a grown up non-pubescent girl with flat chest..
