Otaku Matchmaking Service “OtakuMa” Launches

otakuma.jpg

In the latest attempt to milk the otaku market, Japanese company C.S.T. Entertainment has created a site for matchmaking services, catering specifically to Otaku.

“OtakuMa” or “Otaku Match” is of course not used for dating like typical matchmaking sites, but rather for hardcore otaku to find friends (or rather, other otaku) with similar interests to themselves.

Launching on the 27th of April, the OtakuMa service will let a user sign up and then specify their interest according to the typical otaku genres, including manga, anime, novels/books, cosplay, games, idols/character voices, live-action special-effects (tokusatsu) shows, military, toys, vehicles, computers, and martial arts.

Users can also specifically describe their interest in fine detail, for example if he is a military otaku that likes the S-32/37 Sukhoi with the Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-30-1 cannon.

The system will then try to match these preferences with other users and compile a list of potential friends (in this case the list might be rather sparsely populated) for the person to get to know, or discuss the merits of using an automatic cannon instead of a gatling gun with.

To help otaku who do not want the terror of an offline meeting, the system offers full online interaction instead.

The service will be provided free of charge, and C.S.T. Entertainment has already confirmed that it will add more features in the near future.

The site can be visited here.

Via AnimeAnime.

It seems with this not only is the danger of having to meet any 3D females safely mitigated, but the bother of locating collaborators in the flesh is also reduced… Now otaku have even less incentive to interact with non-otaku, possibly a boon to both otaku and non-otaku.

Seems like it's an interesting idea at least. Going to have to wait and see just how well it pans out, as well as how it gets its cash since it didn't see to have that many ads going on even after turning off my ad blocker.

Is that "3D" really a problem with guys? Hell, while I'm no Brad Pitt or anything- I LOVE females in the flesh. I love to tease, flirt, console, and goof-off with "normal girls". Strippers, Cheerleaders, Waitresses, Students, Models, young MILF's- I'll engage and interact with anyone that has a Vagina- lol. It's the only way to "get over any fear" of a girl you like. It's how I got to know so many Playmates.

Even when I see a 2-D character I'm fantasizing about her as a 3-D version!. I.E. take Tsumugi - her VA is Minako Kotobuki, give her dirty blonde hair and the eyebrows and she's 3-D Tsumugi. The same is true with Mio's VA- Yōko Hikasa who is shown here: http://myanimelist.net/people/7263/Yoko_Hikasa

Females are not that scary! I thought this NEW "Otaku-Ma" was gonna match 'Otaku gals' with Male Otakus- lol. Silly Me!. Otaku females are often 'freaks' in the sack and don't mind dressing up as a character. My current goal is to hook-up with Jayme Langford (google her) and nail her while she's dressed like Kokoa Shuzen from "Rosario + Vampire". Want practice with REAL Otaku chicks try here (and they get naked!): http://www.CosplayDeviants.com [www.CosplayDeviants.com]

Also, most otaku women (fujoshi) are either fat yaoi-obsessed ugly women or interested in normal guys, so otakus pretty much wouldn't give a shit about them.

Well, I see the opposite happening, most otaku guys are not interested in otaku (otome, fujoshi, whatever) girls. So they get married to "regular" women and keep complaining their wives hate their games and hobbies.

Well, the fujoshi term is used for yaoi fans and not all general otaku girls. Most guys don't understand that a girl might have fantasies and they don't necessarily translate to real life so most yaoi fans won't try to use a strap-on on you. =p

well you might get it a bit wrong. "Otaku" used in that article means "Hardcore fan" rather than "Anime/Manga loving and also a Hikkikomori" term that is famouse outside of Japan.

Cosplay. Unless s/he's into gay cosplaying I classify that as into 3D women. And besides, I myself even tho liked anime and manga, and guns, and tanks, also likes real women. Don't classify everyone like you

I view cosplaying as a way of laying a 2D fantasy on top of a 3D person. They become the character, and thus in turn, they become 2D.

Well it could help those poor ronery otaku.. Guess you can't find buddies in school anymore in japan?
I thought japan had quite a bit of people who would qualify as "otaku". Or could this be for the more extreme kind of otaku.
Anyways, seems like a good idea. Hope it helps people find friends.

I-I-I'm shocked by teh numbers! But will they bother going to some "let's make friends!" site AND have sex with other MALE hikkikomoris? After all, they are interested in yaoi and such... oh well, I dunno much 'bout female hikkikomoris (guess not all of 'em are hardcore yaoi fans and even otakus).

But they do developed OSTP (Offline Sperm Transmission Protocol) also called artificial insemination. So it's not so unrealistic to get pregnant when both parents worship hikikomori ways..
