The leaked news that despair inducing anime Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is to receive a third season seems to have been confirmed with the addition of a date.
The date given is a July TV broadcast. There is however still a possibility of the images being fabricated, and certainly worse hoaxes have seen even print magazines regret using 2ch as a source, although otherwise they seem plausible enough.
Speculation immediately centres back on the mysterious leaker’s other predictions…

Finally, someone with a bit of sense left in them. I don't get why people like K-ON that much. Besides the obvious fact that there's only been two episodes of it so far, it really isn't that interesting. Just a bunch of really moe girls.

There is more of the Fuka's story? I though that that was the definite end. So in manga, there is more than in anime?
Well, it would be nice for them to due a story-based season, but considering the whole series is based on parody and satire, I think don't any real story will come out of it, because it just wouldn't fit the whole point of the series.

But, as with *any* (possible) rumour, one needs to take the "wait and see" approach, this way one can avoid disappointment ~ if it doesn't come to fruition.

Does everyone just forget the last episode of GSZS? The one that started with a gag about the horror of running out of jokes, then finished with the banner page announcing this really was "Sayonara, Zetsubou Sensei".
I'd be very, very suprised if this third season announcement was true - it would have to have been in production by the time they aired that final episode of GSZS announcing it was done with.
No reason why there would not be. The manga still has at the very least one season extra of material to work with and counting, compounded with the fact that it is a quite popular show. They would have to be insane to abandon it, they can easily pull off another two seasons without it growing stale for the majority of the fans. The girls alone sell the product.
And add to that the fact that you can never take this show seriously.

If there truly is a third season then I declare that there is no need to read the manga at all. The anime just takes the manga "as is" and the anime is stronger then the manga...
Too bad for Delrey. They put all the hard work in translating the first volume when you can just watch 3 episodes of the first season.
Ye I know, but I've read the first volume like 10+ times already so it's WIN either way =)
True, but this doesn't prevent posters from all over the interwebs complaining that it's not story based or that Shaft/Shinbo are going too far away from the original material (gensaku dori indeed - the manga revolves around jokes and gags with phrases and isn't story based).
From GSZS and ZSZS, I'd say 80% of the parts are panel by panel from the manga, with all the WTF from Shaft's way of describing the chapters, from style changes to even more references and incorrect subbing. The other 20% are things like Zetsubou Fight/Ten Dark Despair Women.
The first season was the one where most liberty was taken with the material.
Looking forward to S3, though it'll be zetsuboushita again if it's fake - I don't think so.
