K-On! Spoilt Princess Anime

k-on-spoilt-princess-anime-9.jpg

Sharp-eyed observers have spotted some very odd touches in Mio anime K-On! Most notably, the girls seem to be used to a life of true luxury, evident in all the episodes so far…

A Meissen cup and saucer worth $100:

k-on-spoilt-princess-anime-1.jpg

k-on-spoilt-princess-anime-2.jpg

A Wedgwood tea cup and saucer set ($90 each):

k-on-spoilt-princess-anime-3.jpg

Another Wedgwood worth $65, from the “Harlequin Collection”:

A Herend tea cup and saucer worth over $200:

k-on-spoilt-princess-anime-7.jpg

k-on-spoilt-princess-anime-8.jpg

All this remains unidentified:

k-on-spoilt-princess-anime-11.jpg
k-on-spoilt-princess-anime-12.jpg
k-on-spoilt-princess-anime-13.jpg

Quite an opulently furnished club room.

Either the girls have a privileged upbringing (as Tsumugi is said to have), or else the animators took the rather curious decision to base all their crockery on the most expensive Rakuten has to offer. Both seem likely.

Interestingly, they also apparently increased some of the prices of the instruments the girls received from the manga…

Another observer writes pointing out that the mathematics (not pictured) the girls are apparently working on in the third episode is more normally associated with university level maths courses than anything expected of high-schoolers… Perhaps an inappropriate reference?

More of the third episode:

They're actually really expensive. Tsumugi's family is rich (her dad owns a motherfcking store, and that's probably just one of many). Honestly, I like knowing about this stuff, but treating it as some sort of shocking surprise is just a bit much...

I would like to say this isn't University level math, haha, if math courses were that easy everyone would have a math degree and not have to go through partial differential equations or real analysis, or complex analysis.
those are University level math courses, where u have to calculate heat flow in objects or prove that the Euclidean metric on R^n is positive, positive definite and symmetric.
Seriously this stuff they did is pretty close to grade 8 or 9. I wonder who said it was Univ level? w/e school that is glad I'm not in it

which also explains the unidentified status of the crockery at yui's home (as none of the items in these comparisons are from those scenes) as they going to be cheep things from a 100yen shop or something :)

Because they know people will buy it just because it is expensive.

You sell a coat for $10, rich people wont buy. Sell same coat for $250, rich people more likely to buy, sell same coat for $2,500 then you guarantee rich will buy it.

the expensive dishware comes from her, it has nothing to do with all of the girls living in the crotch of luxury.
