Sakura-con 2009 Event Report

Sakura-con 2009, a major US anime convention held from April 10th through 12th in Seattle, has come and gone, attracting over 15,000 visitors and occupying six floors of the Washington State Convention & Trade Center.
What follows is an outline of the events that I attended, to be followed up in more detail in subsequent posts:
Friday

– Exhibitors’ Hall
It is rumored that the GIRUGAMESH kid from the now-infamous Sakura-con commercial, who spawned a minor meme, never showed up for the actual convention.
There was a pony-man at the swimsuit contest who showed (and took) off his coat to the audience and a bearded guy joining the girls on stage, but unfortunately I was too busy shrieking in terror to snap photos or videos of the event.
If anyone has photos or videos of the lovely ladies and scandalous men from the swimsuit contest, please send me a message via e-mail.
I will be going through my convention photos over the next few days to cull through them and uploading the rest into a Sakura-con gallery. Most of my photos were taken during Friday, so if you’d like to contribute, too, please let me know.

This is what I loath about 'certain people' who go out an make a mockery or need to be a 'spoiler' at Cons and such. There's Fetish cons, Furry cons, Erotic/Adult expos and such - why make an ass out of yourself.
It's like Man-Faye or anything else- It's a PERVERSION of the 'standard' - now anyone who cries tolerance or 'Open mindedness' - F*ck Off! You know they're trying to be 'Shocking' and it's not legit. The promoters should have "rules or conduct codes" so 'certain people' don't repulse others or exploit the Con just for their own agenda.

And yes, the reason GIRUGAMESH guy didn't show up was that, despite Sakura-con offering to give him a free hotel, fight, and everything so he could open up the convention, his parents had grounded him due to poor grades.
Ohhhh.

Well, if he can make it next year, he might be able to manage something, but yeah. He wasn't able to capitalize on his internet fame at its peak. I do hope he shows up next year though. Wouldn't mind shaking his hand as the man who helped start all this.

There were threads on it all over the place. After the panel was over, I had make a few threads about it on /jp/ and then there was a thread made for it on Poosh as well.
Heh, never check /jp/ which is why I didn't know.
I'll surely find stuff about it if I look, but I cba now so it'll have to wait.
There are three videos on youtube already if you do have to see how parts of it went, but only one is actually of the presentation part of the panel, and all the videos are only a few minutes in length anyways.
Go and help Atashi if you haven't already done so.
Been trying as hard as I can Artefact. Should probably contact the people who have been putting up videos of the panel to see when they'll be uploading the rest since my friend completely dropped the ball and didn't show up with his video camera so that my friend could have recorded the panel himself while he did other things.
