Well, he didn't say why he thought it's a terrible show. But whatever, you're probably right on the mark.
For me I don't give a damn how popular a show is, if it's good it's good. K-on has quirky enjoyable characters that don't fit into some pre-defined mold, no over-used tsundere themes and what not. Lovable character, light-hearted slice-of-life, good humor, and it's moe. Top show for the year, IMHO.
Oh and <3 Mio (and this was b4 I knew how popular she is)

Mio's the only character that doesn't act like her Lucky Star lookalike IMO, given that Ritsu=Konata, Yui=Tsukasa, and Tsumugi=Miyuki.
Still, I enjoy it regardless, perhaps largely because Lucky Star didn't do much for me.
Though I like her too, I still don't understand all this Mio craze. The other three are equally awesome.
its mainly due to the ending sequence I think, can't really blame them for it, since I thought it was pretty well done.
I think Episode 2 just made Mio even more popular cuz of her shyness.
But then, I do agree that all the girls have their own charm and appeal, I think if ending sequence was a bit different(as in focusing on another girl), then Mio would probably be a little less popular than now.
... Maybe it's because she's got the biggest boobs? XD [See episode 4]
I like her black hair, and the fact that she's a lefty... Her shyness is also very cute.
Oh and, there's an interesting scene with her and Sawako in the 20. chapter of manga... Although it may be cut-out in the anime... I mean, they already altered the panty shot scene in episode 6... [They didn't actually show it]
Same here. It's only been one episode so I dont see how people are already picking out favorites and I doubt most of the people watching it have read the manga.
All the characters are great so far and I'm sure I'll love them all equally in the end.
