Live Action Evangelion Not April Fools’ After All?

It has been reported that the jolly April 1st Evangelion poll held by Yahoo! Japan, in which users were given the chance to select which actors they felt most appropriate for a supposed Evangelion live action movie production, may not be so fanciful after all.
Yahoo! Japan initially asked visitors to vote for the cast that they would most like to see featured in the “live action adaptation”; this was soon identified as an April 1st event.
However, Asahi TV later confirmed that they would be going ahead with the production of live action images, using the top voted cast if they could manage it.
This will not be a movie though; instead it appears a short casting clip or photo shoot using the cast (presumably cosplaying) is intended, strictly as part of the promotion of the upcoming animated feature.

I've seen everyone of those actors in a role that could fit their current assigned role! I don't know all of them very well though..
I know Horikita Maki could be an excellent mysterious and dark Rei (although she doesn't like those roles as she mentioned in Nobuta wo Produce I think XD)
Hiroshi Abe will be a perfect fit, since he's used playing bossy to very obnoxious roles that the Gendou role will ask of him.
The last and only role I've seen Matsuyuki Yasuko in was to be a rather vulgar bitch who's drunk on death metal...so if she can get in Ritsuko's character I guess she could do it lol.
Matsushima Nanako was the main support character in the live action adaptation of GTO, so I guess she can do another like that~
The rest are those that I know what they did but can't put a finger how they acted. Hope they're good XD

Other than Japanese Drama, if you are a J-Horror fan like me, you will recognize Maki from the movie 'Chakushin Ari 3' (aka One Missed Call 3). She was one of the two protagonists, and was probably her motion picture debut.

With that cast, I'd watch it. Fuck yes to Kimiri Ryunosuke, Hiroshi Abe and Matsushima Nanako.
Don't forget about evangelion units. As I know, japaneese haven't got any money to make great sfx. plastic or 3ds_max angels? No way... Hollywood cjuld do it more professional and make over 9k sfx. Hovever, this jap casting = win

Asuka is 3/4 Caucasian. She should have at most a hint of Asian features.
This is one of the only good things about the fact that if there is eventually an EVA live-action adaptation, it's an American company that will be handling it.

lol, Abe is so freaking Gendo. Pretty good choices, I say. The venture reminds me of the brief pieces of live action with the voice actors that was in EoE: Renewal.

Holy hell, the actor voted to play Gendou is PERFECT! The facial construction, the expression, everything. All he needs is Gendou glasses and a rugged beard and he's instantly recognizable by any Evangelion fan!
He's too young and handsome to play Gendou in my opinion. If he plays a young Gendou then maybe.
no trust me, I've seen him in like 3 dramas, he's a really great actor. He was great in Dragonzakura, Kekkon dekinai otoko for instance.

Abe isn't too young. He's about the right age. Gendo isn't some elderly infirm. Abe has a pretty imposing presence and I think he'll fit the role really well.
Gendo's 48. Abe is 40 something but he looks like he's in his 30s. Plus I never saw Gendou as an overly attractive man.

DX I love Maki-chwuan. She hasnt starred in many but made lots of side roles and important ones. Seeing her as Rei is like awesomeness,I love Rei and Maki. She's very popular in the Japanese Drama scene at the moment (or at least the past year). Starred in Hanazakari no Kimi Tachi e, Nobuta wo Produce, Kurosagi, among others... Very cute girl but unfortunately she's often used poorly (given no acting direction etc) which has her come across as a bit bland in some of her recent stuff... I'm sure she'd make a great Rei tho
I hate to disagree but she has been given acting directions. If you see many makings of some series/movies she's often told how to do it many times. But yes recently she's been getting more weird roles... kinda hard for her to step up so much.
Basically, doing nothing but being mysterious would suit her nicely.
And Toda Erika as the fiery Asuka sounds really fine. Ah~ I am jealous of the lead actor if they really do use them
