Live Action Evangelion Not April Fools’ After All?

It has been reported that the jolly April 1st Evangelion poll held by Yahoo! Japan, in which users were given the chance to select which actors they felt most appropriate for a supposed Evangelion live action movie production, may not be so fanciful after all.
Yahoo! Japan initially asked visitors to vote for the cast that they would most like to see featured in the “live action adaptation”; this was soon identified as an April 1st event.
However, Asahi TV later confirmed that they would be going ahead with the production of live action images, using the top voted cast if they could manage it.
This will not be a movie though; instead it appears a short casting clip or photo shoot using the cast (presumably cosplaying) is intended, strictly as part of the promotion of the upcoming animated feature.

who's that playing rei? never heard of her...
she's kinda cute though.
She's very popular in the Japanese Drama scene at the moment (or at least the past year). Starred in Hanazakari no Kimi Tachi e, Nobuta wo Produce, Kurosagi, among others... Very cute girl but unfortunately she's often used poorly (given no acting direction etc) which has her come across as a bit bland in some of her recent stuff... I'm sure she'd make a great Rei tho
Basically, doing nothing but being mysterious would suit her nicely.
And Toda Erika as the fiery Asuka sounds really fine. Ah~ I am jealous of the lead actor if they really do use them

I hate to disagree but she has been given acting directions. If you see many makings of some series/movies she's often told how to do it many times. But yes recently she's been getting more weird roles... kinda hard for her to step up so much.

You know, I've been curious about that: Are manga/anime movies made outside of Hollywood adapted to film better than those made in Hollywood? For example, Initial D, Prince of Tennis, and Death Note were adapted to movies that were produced by Asian film studios. Are those those, or any other examples I didn't list, considered quality made in a general sense of film making?
The only movie I've seen adapted from a manga was Honey and Clover. I think it was a pretty good movie overall.
The only manga/anime adapt movie I like is Cityhunter played by Jackei Chan, very funny.
Negative Happy Chainsaw Edge is a pretty good manga to movie conversion....and Yatterman! is almost identical to the original anime....and its super amazing!

Eh, doubt it. Death Note wasn't all that great, Higurashi was pretty lackluster, I see no reason why Eva will break the mold. I've said it in another article, I'll say it again, live action adaptations are fucking stupid. No one is going to bitch about Asuka not even being half German? Ritsuko going from a gaijin look to dark haired Japanese? People were so quick to point out loldragonball barely having any Asian cast members, the opposite does not apply with obviously not Asian characters?

Nothing against her personally, but a non blonde Misa in deathnote felt out of place. Think they should let the cast be decided by the audience every time.. cause this is just perfect!

Holy hell, the actor voted to play Gendou is PERFECT! The facial construction, the expression, everything. All he needs is Gendou glasses and a rugged beard and he's instantly recognizable by any Evangelion fan!
He's too young and handsome to play Gendou in my opinion. If he plays a young Gendou then maybe.
no trust me, I've seen him in like 3 dramas, he's a really great actor. He was great in Dragonzakura, Kekkon dekinai otoko for instance.
