He draws shoes very well, better than most anime artists I've seen. Not that his style is exactly anime. It seems to border on realism.

I DOUBT it was traced. There's nothing wrong with using an image as a reference. Look at the exquisite detail of the art. This is good stuff and I'm not even a Touhou fan. I've only ever seen the anime that fans say doesn't exist (notice I'm not naming it).

I'm quite sure this new one is a trace too, you'd need skills superior to Rembrandt to get the lighting and anatomy right without using a reference.

Regardless of the drawing method, his works (the traced ones) are really cool, minus the anatomic/lighting/perspective errors. In my books, tracing is a viable form of art and I don't really care how it's made if it looks as awesome as this.

i have near countless books of referance drawings, anatomy/medical drawings, and gigs of othere referance material on the harddrive. using a picture as insparation for a certain pose is not bad, tracing it then sayings its your own.. thats bad.

and his coloring is damn excellent.. wish i was a 1/4 of his skill..!!

I think the lat image is indeed plagiarism is obviou he saw the pic liked it and either copied it or traced, if he used it for reference the final pic would be different to the photo, but they are the same, even the pillows are arranged the same way as in the photo.

Check Boris Vallejo, he takes pics before doing a painting, but the
end product is never exactly as the photo

as an aspiering manga artsit who draws girls a LOT:) I can under stand him useing referenc material shit I know I do! People on here need to stop the bullshit! Cuz you know there is know way in hell that you fags could draw that without some referenc!

Strange... why is it a crime to use reference? Isn't imagining the pose in memory after looking at real poses also considered reference? All artists are practically referencing from their own imaginations for god's sake.

Touhou artists should march in his footsteps. I've seen about over 9000 pics with exactly same pose. It's about time someone breathe new air into this over-saturated genre.

When I first saw that image, I new right away that reference was used because many of his other illustrations anatomically aren't as accurate as this one.

I was thinking that the first one looks like a photo was used for reference. It's hard to draw things like that without some kind of reference that's for sure. But it should be used as a learning method and not as a pure trace job that way, in the future those kinds of angles are easier to draw.
