Episode 150 of Gintama brings with it a rather detailed parody of numerous scenes from Evangelion.
As being a denizen of the 2ch anime boards requires rote memorisation of every scene of Neon Genesis Evangelion, a full comparison was soon produced, visible above.
Sadly, as this is unquestionably a humorous homage to Eva, we are denied the opportunity to lambaste the show for outrageous plagiarism. Another time, perhaps.

Awesome, who doesn't appreciate a anime driving a parody of a anime legend
May i ask what type of series this is, only series im familiar with that thrives off of parodies is excel saga which was too over the top to be enjoyable
I believe it's some kind of shounen fighting show somewhat akin to Bleach or Naruto (I risk being flamed here), but more geared towards comedy instead of serious plot development (which does not mean it hasn't any). It has always looked interesting and promising to me, and I like the character designs in particular. Only reason I haven't started watching it yet is the huge episode count, probably set to go on forever, following the (of course) still ongoing manga.
The humor tends to be heavily absurd/satirical. I find it to be rather hilarious myself.
Agreed. Gintama is hilarious.
I think it has one of Ries only non tsundere roles too.
Although I have never watched an episode, I just remember hearing her voice in a clip I saw on youtube.
I want my Gintama!
Greatest show ever. Really good comedy (smart comedy and not stupid brianless ones), lots of parody (it's even better if you know a lot of old Anime/manga/tv shows), great action and plot during serious arc (who can say no to Hosen vs Gin-san?), and so much more.
It's so underrated in America that its sad. It's dam popular in Asia.
i think that why its not too popular in america is that its hard to translate and localize the jokes and puns they use so frequently in Gintama. Its probably harder for fansubbers and scanlators
In Rumbel-Subs we trust. Just watch any of their fansubs to get a good idea of how its possible to bring it to life in english. Not quite up to current yet but the quality is amazing.
You could honestly jump(oh, puns)in to Gintama at any point and not miss much, or feel left out on inside jokes. There isn't much plot throughout the show, and very few serious arcs.
Only thing Gintama has in common with say, Naruto, Bleach, etc is being a Jump manga. The comedy is all that matters, and it never takes itself to seriously(And, there are no Power levels which is wonderful). It's a great show, people shouldn't be turned off by "Shonen" because of shows that have the same basic origin.
Agreed on all points. It's a great show.
But you have to admit, the parts where they do have a storyline are damn awesome. I remember doing all nighters just cause I couldn't stop watching episode after episode! Epic epic show.
Great show, with great parodies.
Every 50th episode seems to be the most outrageous in terms of comedy aspect.
Dammit @ all above comments, now I can't resist to watch it anymore >_<
agreed
Thanks for the Gintama love Artefact. It makes Rie Kugimiya career worth something than being some tsundere.
"Some" tsundere?
Rie Kugimiya is the tsundere Queen by excellence.
Although I do love her doing male roles (FMA, KnL) *shrug*
blasphemy! All her tsundere characthers are one dimensional irritating clumsy loli bitches that deserve to die
You sir is an hero
And as so, I present to you a 9mm aspirine.
Ahh yes, more people who agree. Her as kagura is the only role I like her doing as every other role is the same one. I like loli and tsundere, but together just doesn't go well for me.
and NnO, was a male roll too.
It all makes sense now. Shinji's decision of rejecting instrumentality resulted in the world being rebuilt as the one in Gin Tama!
I see what you did there...
This hypothesis makes some sense.
These scenes are all from Ep. 26, right?
EVA never got it... weak plot, crappy characters and story...horrid ending.... I mean half the the it makes Dnuts(Dragonaught) look good....
Evangelion in my Gintama...
that was awesome Sunrise! \m/
Gintama is fucking awesome. Too bad no one has subbed ep 107-130 or something like that. Rumble is doing a very good (but slow) job and I don't understand Horriblesubs logic of subbing, like what ep 140+ without doing the earlier eps! But hey, they probably have their reason so I just sit back and wait for the eps to roll in when they come.
One of the greatest anime's whatsoever!!
HorribleSubs aren't a subbing group.
They simply rip officially subbed streams from a site called Cruncyroll, which also has the older Gintama eps.
I assume HorribleSubs haven't ripped those as they are in it for the 'e-penis' so won't bother with old stuff that fansub groups have already worked on and released.
i've been a fan of Gintama since its 1st preview chapter opened up in Shonen Jump USA.Absurd to the rabid Gainax but since i'm a big Gainax fan too(since Nadia came out on Betamax form and not on VHS),i let this pass up.Next.
I'll will also echo the sentiment that Gintama is awesome. Someone mentioned before there are no power levels, meaning no power ups. There is actually an episode that mocks it.
Also did anyone notice the seiyuu joke? Well his whole character design is a bit of a seiyuu joke but in the last clip with Hasegawa and his wife paralleling Gendou and Yui both Gendou and Hasegawa are voiced by Fumihiko Tachiki. Too perfect.
i hope they put the mecha in gintama.
they seriously need to put more parody
Im waiting for Gintama to finish airing, THEN ill watch it all in one fell swoop :D
I don't really know what will happen, for there is yet someone to do this - maybe he will have heart attack or become hikikomori because the world won't be interesting anymore... but I have to tell you, Teh Gintama had been my weekly dose of fuel for about a year and I have no idea how will I go on if the show were to end some day.:D Hope it's scheduled after 2012:]
i dont think it will end in hmmm at least 5 years,,╯▽╰
the the guys creating all the hilarious lines and scenes are just too genius for gintama to be stopped airing
Maybe it will become the next Simpsons, and last for many years.
It has a similar formula, and even does it better than some other satirical animations out there.
I see it lasting for some time.
Partway through that episode, I realised what was going on and proceeded to scream with laughter.
