Bandai Launches $20,000 Mazinger Model

The latest model adaptation of Go Nagai’s iconic mecha hero, Mazinger Z will be sold to lucky collectors for a measly ¥2 million, Bandai has announced.
Dubbed “Urban Material Chogokin Mazinger Z”, it will be made out of titanium and carbon, rather than using the usual die-cast construction.
According to Bandai’s site, this release is to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Bandai’s successful “Chogokin” line of figurine models.
The model itself stands around 60cm tall, being 1/30th scale of the original Mazinger Z mecha robot.The name “Urban Material” itself refers to the materials used for the model.
Those interested in seeing it can watch the unveiling at the Tamashii Nation 2009 event, held at the Akihabara UDX building from March 26 to 29.
Those interested in actually procuring one will want to pre-order it to assure availability.
